(UPDATE 11/24) We are told today a tentative agreement on an offer in principle between USC and Tom Herman has been reached. The deal is contingent on Herman and his wife liking what they see when they visit USC and Herman and Ray Tanner being comfortable with one another. That visit could take place as early as Sunday or the first part of next week depending on the outcome of Houston’s game Friday with Navy. A Houston loss would expedite the process. All information at this time points toward Herman. All other names are simply fallback prospects should things not work out with Herman.

Not sure how excited I would be about Herman if I was in $CU fan. His success at Houston is based largely on an eight win team he i from the previous coach

Someone posted on FGF that no agreement with any coach had been reached yet. Who knows at this point. They're certainly taking a chance if they're getting Herman. He only has one season at HC.

And already offered him $3.5 million last week to try to preempt any poachers.
Now we know the university of second choice has $EC money and that they are idiots when it comes to contract negotiations (see SOS's Under Armour deal) so I'm sure they will offer him 4 million plus.
I would say it's far from a done deal in any case, but Herman won't be hurting for $ even if he stays in Houston.

Tanner: "Absolutely not true". Who cares really. The Gamecocks hired 2 HOF coaches and the best thing to come from it was 3 11 win seasons out of what 16, 17, 18 years? Proving even HOF coaches can't turn USC into a winner, doubt a guy who don't even have a year under his belt can do much better.....

That would be the perfect dagger in the heart for them. I got a good indication when Urban has his next health issue OS is coming after Herman. Many OS fans believe him leaving is the reason for their slow down this year.

The source for this rumor is "Atlanta Sports Guy". Very credible. Herman is set to interview but anything about an agreement is ridiculous.
