to RUN the ball more during the course of the whole season. Not running enough this past year cost us two if not all three of our losses!!!! And lets create a number of new innovative plays in that running game to help insure its further success!!!!

we also FAILED to keep drives alive many times in crucial 3rd and manageable situations by NOT being able to pick up two or three yards running the ball. We even failed on 4th and INCHES several times. So, we did not have a truly successful, "smash mouth" running game. That, just like shaky at best pass protection, is on the O-Line.
Marked improvement in BOTH Offensive and Defensive line play is needed if Clemson wants to get back to Playoff relevance next year.

I am not defending the o-line, but when defenses are not afraid of the long ball, it becomes pretty easy to load the box and stop the run.

Because I go back to the early days of our success in the 70's, I always think we should run the ball. The reality of the game is with the huge size and speed of defenses, running is easier said than done. We lost to Notre Dame because that night they were way better than we were. We lost to South Carolina by being unable to make a stop when we had to. We lost to Tennessee because our offense could not make a play when they had to. Every game is different but a good running game is constant. Always remember there are 3 things that can happen when you throw a pass and 2 of them are bad.

One could say the same about running the ball. Loss of yardage, fumble, or positive gain.

Back in the 70s our best athletes were on the o-line - and we ran behind them.
And people still complained that we weren't exciting enough on offense. Its always something.

Let me add let' make sure we have an OL that can open up some running lanes.

Power running vs. finesse running.

How about an OL where when the RB tries to hit a hole between the tackles he's not hit one or two yards in the backfield? When an OL can do that, make the initial contact be somewhere past the LOS, then the running game can be a real positive. When the running game consists too much of sweeps and misdirection, then the running game struggles.
The big uglies have to open holes.

We never use a snap count anymore. No advantage for the offensive line knowing when the ball will be snapped using a cadence count. The hand clap bs takes away any advantage the offensive line has in getting off the line.
