Boating/Tailgating on Lake Hartwell on game day

1

Does anyone tailgate on the water near Death Valley? Looking for recommendations on the best places to put a boat in, park the trailer, etc.

I don't exactly have fond memories of Lake Hartwell. Ear

infections gleaned from swimming in that particular container of water cost me the high frequency hearing in both my ears forever while I was at Clemson.

:(

There are always boats out in the September home games. I don't think it is a "big event", but people do it.

You can put the boat in and leave car/trailer at the new landing beside Y Beach and Seneca Meadows.

If you want to beach the boat...as the Harwell water sits now...you can do so behind the Esso Club at the northern ####.

You could also dock up at Abernathy Park....but water can get low there at times.

Here is how you can track Hartwell water levels:

Hope that helps.

wish there was a way they could create a dockside tailgate

along the #### behind the Esso/Newspring area. I know Duke would never allow that area to be commercialized but how cool would it be to have a boardwalk, restaurants, meeting area's to watch the game along the lake there. IT would be unlike any other gameday experience in the country.

3 things:

1. Duke?
2. Vol Navy
3. Sailgating @ Baylor

Duke power or whoever owns the lake permitting. Lake Wylie is heavily regulated by Duke so insert whoever is involved there and power companies err on the side of "No."

Didn't know that about UT or Baylor. Thats a great idea.

US Army Corps of Engineers controls Hartwell. They don’t allow anything on the dikes. I always have wanted us to do something right where the dikes end, just behind esso. That’s where people beach now.

Also forgot to list University of Washington in the tailgating by boat list…

You may be wrong there. Hate to say and admit but Tennessee's home games with all the boats just outside the stadium is pretty cool site.

El Tiger.....All of what you just described will never get done...not because of Duke...but because of the Army Corps of Engineers.

They are super strict...and even Lakeside Lodge could not get a dock permit for their residents! Crazy.

So unless the Army stops monitoring the lake, you will never see what you described.

There wil be many boat’s anchored in between Clemson marina and Death Valley . It’s nice being in a float listening to the game and hearing the fans when a good play happens , especially when it is 90 degrees and a noon game .

kbtiger® I agree. Real nice addition.

The new Y Beach area is great as well with lots of water "toys" for students.
