Wiggins interception - did anyone pickup on this?

Dec 8, 2022, 11:00 AM

Had #81 for UNC caught the ball and then scored, it “should” have been a penalty and the Tar Heel TD not allowed!

Why, you may ask? If you watch the video, #81 clearly goes out of bounds on the sideline (and wasn’t forced out) and then comes back in bounds. #81 would not have been eligible to receive a pass.

Talk about irony, Maye (he couldn’t have known) throws a pass to an ineligible receiver that results in the longest pick six in ACCCG history!

That 14-pt swing helped break UNC’s spirit.

Go Tigers!

Not to mention that UNC had a lineman downfield almost in the end zone. Should have been a flag for ineligible receiver downfield.

On the same play? Lol!

Yep

Saw it in real time and was screaming at my TV. I didn’t see a hat being thrown and it seemed like we might be about to be screwed.

I had not noticed that good eye on your part, thanks for sharing.

Someone else mentioned it Monday or Tuesday but still worth another mention since there wasn’t much of a response to the last post. I wonder if the pass had been on target and caught and neither penalty was called if a challenge from us would’ve been allowed?

I mentioned it earlier and wondered if ref would've had the

"The one who thinks we can and the one who thinks we can't are both right! Which one are you, son? Which one are you, son?"

I think that's why he let the ball go.

He started to go up for it but kept his arms down and didn't reach for the ball. I think he realized he had gone out and hesitated to go for the ball.

I think this was the case as well. Now, if he had known it

was going to be picked, he would have tackled Wiggins before the ball got there and take the offensive PI penalty. But, too much thought for that split second to make a decision. He knew he had gone out of bounds earlier, and had time to think about that one.

I was worried that we might get a penalty for the coaches and players on the sideline. I think a coach might have crossed the side line.
