I used the word "stinks" but feel free to insert your favorite expletive. Cause this place sucks.
First thing, no Bojangles.
Second, no fishing. Who do I need a speak to in order to fish that lake? "Sir, we actually don't recommend fishing the local waters." Oh what, we're not gud enough to fish this place?!
And what you call sweet tea..... well its just blasphemous.
Oatmeal? What am I 5? Gimme some skrimp and grits, scooter. And queen my dishes.

There is fishing all over the place in Upstate NY...And yes there isn't bojangles or Chick Fila which does suck but try Stella's for breakfest...This isn't the south...They don't know what Grits or sweet tea are up in NY

If you're talking about Onondaga lake I wouldn't fish that toxic waste dump either. Get our your GPS and get up to Lake Oneida. Onondaga is the most polluted lake in the world, I am not kidding. There is a massive cleanup effort underway but back in the day some local companies dumped all their waste in the Lake and I think they used to dump raw sewage in the lake as well. They weren't being rude by telling you not to fish that Lake, they were trying to save your life. We don't swim it, we don't fish it, well actually you can but don't eat them for god's sake.

So if you order tea up there and they're gonna bring you hot tea in a coffee cup. So you think you learn your lesson and order ice tea the next time and they pour it out of the coffee cup over some ice. So now you think you've got it and order sweet ice tea, so they put a couple of packets of sugar in with their "ice tea" and it all sinks to the bottom. Just give up. And don't expect a refill because that ain't gonna happen either.

Man, others have mentioned it already, but if you can't find fishing in the central NY area you just aren't looking.
My dad grew up fishing on Nine Mile Creek, which is nearby Syracuse, and there's great trout and bass fishing throughout the region.
