Why Ship should return for 1 more year?

1) I don’t think he will land in guaranteed money in the draft this year. 2) He has finally shown some break away ability the last couple of years - a year of demonstrating that would be helpful for his draft stock. 3) He is starting to emerge as a receiving threat. It could be similar to ETN in his final year where he showed he can be an APB. A season showing APB capability would help his draft stock.
Just my rough thoughts. What say you?

I think a lot comes down to his draft grade and what he hears from that.

Agree with all. I think his decision will depend on his draft grade which I don’t think will be that high right now. Another year could change that, especially if he continues to improve his receiving skills.

Could be an interesting blend of him and Mafah next season. Especially if the WRs are healthy and the new kids are as good as advertised (Turner, Williams, Brown, Randall, Stellato, Brinny, Sapp, Wesco, Moore - whew!). That could take pressure off of ship and he could shine.

I am no Mel Kiper, but I just don't see him going in the first five rounds.
You saw what an NFL back looks like yesterday, and he wasn't on our side of the field.
Both Mafa and him can really help us next year, and if they can eliminate the fumbles they both will go a little higher.

I would say unless you are a top elite Junior with 1st or maybe 2nd round pick the odds are against making an NFL roster. Not sure what the percentages would be but most likely low. But, when you make your bed you have to lay in it. Wish him luck in any decision.

I think scouts would label him fumble prone this year entering the draft and it would hurt his grade maybe a 4th to 5th rounder. If he stays he could probably go 1st or 2nd

If Ship declared for the Draft, he would be a Free Agent. Very doubtful he would get drafted this year!

I think we should play him at a wing or slot and throw it to him. When we get him to the second level he is dangerous. In the pros, they may make an Eddleman out of him. From the wing, he can always shift back and have both our good ones in the backfield.

Fumble in the red zone when you really should be laser focused.

Shipley will not be drafted by the NFL this year or next. He is a decent college back, but not NFL material.

If he gets drafted at all it would be in a late round. Plus, if he fumbles twice in the red zone in the NFL, he would be gone.
He just needs to stay and make some NIL money.

No way he gets drafted.
I think he's hitting the portal. I've thought that since the sidelines blowup. He says all the right things, but I believe him to be a "me" player instead of a "team" player.
I can see him at UNC. Wherever he goes, the problems will be the same.

Ship Happens

Honestly, I'm thinking he transfers if he comes back one more year.
In a perfect world, we have both back but I don't think it's gonna happen....which is a shame because this past game is basically what I envisioned we'd see more of with Ship and Mafah this year. Mafah as the bruiser and Ship as the APB.
Another interesting off-season ahead!
