Why isnt Mafah getting more playing time?

He has few glaring mistakes and is a big body runner in short yardage situations. He is also deceptively mobile and agile. And he hasn’t had the demoralizing errors that CK and WS have had. I think he should get the starting nod in Raleigh. Plus with him in the line up the opposing defense will have to think twice about where the ball is going.

I thought he’s still recovering from an ankle injury? If not, then I don’t understand his not being used as a scat back alternative.

Dabo does not like to play underclassmen ahead of upperclassmen for some unknown reason. Talent does not matter.

Miami's front 7 was two quick for him. Shipley hits the hole faster and is more decisive on his first cut. It did not matter though, we could not run on them to save our lives regardless of who was being handed the ball.

Yeah, he was too slow when he bulldozed his way on 3rd and 4 for 5 yards to give us 1st and goal. Then a really nice block on #### fumble.
Mafah should have been rewarded. He outperforms Shipley in every stat and grade. So respectively disagree with your assessment.
Shipley last year did possibly hit the hole faster. Too many times now he dances behind the line and then gets dropped for a one yard loss. Not sure what's going on with him. My nephew, who played right guard in college says Shipley has been running tentatively this season for some reason.
So, no I don't think it's as simple as they think he's better. If they do, not sure what they see in live games.

carries because they think he is more likely to pick up yardage in most situations. Shipley, in their eyes, has a slight edge.
You may disagree, but I guarantee you it's no more complicated than that.

Could be but stats and grades say otherwise. That way of thinking might be why we're in the shi t hole place we're in. Quite frankly, Ship should have been suspended for a game over his antics and screaming on live tv with his coach. He's really not that good.

Maybe he is dinged up. I noticed Saturday night that he was wearing a shoulder brace. Has he always worn it?

Is it just me? He looks slow. To be honest Cade is not near as fast as he believes. We just seem slow.

I think Shipley is the better back but he does seem to have regressed. I think Mafah is good but not great. Most of his big runs are from gaping holes. Shipley has more big play ability IMO. Neither of them are elite I hate to say. Sad because we all thought Shipley was going to be the next McCaffrey. And he had a very very solid fresh and soph campaign. The line being so average makes it tough to tell.

Mafah ONLY gets big runs because of "gaping holes", or could it be that he's more patient and does what a RB is coached to do and that's to let the blocks develop? And IF he even had "gaping holes" to run through, that just gives our abysmal OL too much credit, and we know they're playing like total horse$$$hit. However, I do hear what you're saying, but Mafah truly deserves to get rewarded, especially deep redzone, goal line situations. Give it to the 230lb back, and if their DL stops it, then we just suck at the point of attack...which we do lol

Oh, and even last season in several games Mafah would literally carry us down to the goal line and CDS would take him out to give Shipley the TD? I never liked that IMO. Let who got you down there finish the job
