I don't get on here often but it pisses me off every time I do. I have no clue how some "fans" can be so negative. Love or hate Coach Brownell he is our coach and we should want the team to do well and support them. My son spent the week at the Basketball camp and I can tell you first hand the coaches and players are a great group of men. Could we get a better X and 0's coach, certainly, but almost every team could say that. But not sure we could get better people. You guys remind me of my ex-wife. She was a miserable person and wanted everyone around her to be miserable. I am going to enjoy the ride and look forward to a fun season of basketball.

part of the Clemson fanbase that is not satisfied with continued mediocrity in basketball? Were you also part of the group that wanted us to keep Tommy Bowden because he was "a good Christian man"? He WAS a good Christian man, and Brad Brownell may be, as well. But NEITHER was a high caliber winning COACH, which is what they are paid to be.
There are a lot of parallels there. Both had winning records, but never achieved conference titles. Both would have the occasional better than average (THEIR average) season, which would result in them being given a contract extension. And, then, mediocrity would return. If you are happy with that, then YOU are part of the problem.

How much criticism of our football program have we seen the last two years? If Dabo has not won enough to avoid the spear of the delusional crew on T-Net then our basketball coach has no chance. I would note OP was a regular participant in March Madness and after never winning a single game the same guys were chunking criticism his way.

So you really think Bowden and Brownell are in the same situation? Hint: one coached a program with multiple bowl wins, conference titles and a national championship and the other coaches a program with a trophy case similar to coot football. Do you not understand the hate for CBB is over the top and hurts our program? Do you understand that emailing or calling the AD's office would be the appropriate response to those want a change as these things do not hurt the program and cast Clemson fans in a bad light? Posting over the top hate on a message board does nothing to help the situation.

How many of those things you allude to happened in the decade before Bowden became coach? Athletes enter school at @18 years of age. Crap that happened when they were <8 years old does not matter to them. Past is not prologue. Brownell unequivocally inherited a better situation that Bowden did. Arguing otherwise is pure bs.

Even an absolute ******** should realize that one inherited a 3-8 program that hadn’t finished a season ranked in half a decade and the other inherited a program that had made three straight ncaa tourneys, had finished in the top 25 two of the last three seasons, and had the highest ranked recruiting class in Rivals history of the program the previous season. Any counter argument you’re gonna try is easily negated by every coach who has failed at a major program and every coach that has elevated a previously inferior program.

an opinion or enlighten others with information about our Clemson Tigers.
Being upset because Brownell seems incapable of taking our team to the next level is frustrating, even to you I am sure. Now, some people are a bit nasty with comments and go too far, but that is their frustration coming through in the moment. Brownell may be a great guy, good players coach, great in camps, but some will only care about winning/losing. Attacking players is where I will always try my best to never do but coaches and staff are paid to get things done...therefore an opinion that is anything other than happiness should be expected when an athletic team underperforms or does not "get it done". Clemson athletics outside of basketball have been pretty good overall, whereas basketball just is not getting over that hump. Is that all Brownell, nope, but he is the leader so he will get some of if not most of the blame.
I am guilty of posting some very stupid things in the heat of the moment, and I regret it almost immediately. Never want to see anyone fired or lose job, but he would find a job pretty quickly if something was to happen and we would bring in a "Clemson" guy because that is what Clemson does.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts in a respectable way, but remember there are all types out there and not everyone will be of the same opinion...no matter how crazy some sound lol

The iPhone was developed based on a great idea and significant investment. It does not really apply to our basketball situation as Apple was not an after thought for a hundred years.
Dabo was a one in a million find but we have spent $200M+ in facilities to support his vision. Note I am not talking about DV but standalone facilities. Not to mention he has a seemingly unlimited budget to spend on staff and assistants.
Perhaps we should make a change in terms of hiring a new coach but without other investments in the program and finding a proven coach, the new coach will either crap out or jump ship and we will be worse off than we are today.

I find no joy in piling on Coach Brownell and giving him the occasional roast because he is still a person. But at what point are we supposed to just stop accepting what he's brought us? I'm tired of the basketball program being what it is and 13 YEARS of this is far too long. Being critical doesn't mean we don't support them. We are just fed up and the way some cope with this abusive relationship is to be harsh. The "roll over, accept it and shut up, he's our coach" treatment towards us fans is nonsensical at this point. I don't condone bashing him as a person but as a coach, the majority of us have had enough.

NO MORE BROWNELL = good coach post. Dang these are getting old. Realist see it one way and apologist see it another. JStone, Cobbox and Mountaineer love him and think we are extremely underfunded and Brownell is the best we can do.
Others sees the home loss to Morehead St in the “not good enough” tournament as a microcosm of his coaching career. I believe we all know where everyone that post regularly stand on this and it’s apparent things are not going to change for a few years.

I am sure basketball schools like Duke and Kansas put more into the basketball program. You don't think if the same amount of money put into the basketball program as the football program the basketball program would be a lot better.

Duke, in Coach K’s last season, had the highest expenses in college basketball at 19.9 million. Their football budget, one of the lowest in D1 is $25 million. That was 25% more. With Coach K gone football budget is 2.5 times the basketball budget. Kansas spends $15 mill on basketball and over $20 million on football. So you are factually wrong. This misunderstanding of the basic facts surrounding the sport is why you think Brownell is actually a good value.
