In the recruiting update it states that UGA an UNC have found a chink in the Tigers' armor. What is this?

I should never have included that line as it has been taken out of context. It is not a statement about Clemson's recruiting as a whole, in other words there is not some drastic issue with Clemson recruiting, it is simply a point about this specific recruitment. The point that the other two teams are making against Clemson, which is depth, should not be an issue for Shaw. If he commits somewhere else and that is the story we get than it is more of an excuse than a reason, and he was just never going to go to Clemson.

And ain’t it great that Dabo has us in the position that our roster depth could be labeled a weakness?

with too much depth. I’m always surprised at how many 4& 5 star recruits are happy to ride the pine for a year or two.

what it is then. Quit playing games. You are correct that you should have just said nothing if you weren’t going to include the detail.

If you read my reply than you would have seen that they are selling him on depth, at least that is what I have been told, which is why it is more of an excuse than a reason. Here is a quote from that reply "The point that the other two teams are making against Clemson, which is depth, should not be an issue for Shaw."
-I apologize if I have upset you, but just take a deep breath and relax.

UGA is not short on D-lineman 2022; Carter, Walker, Norton, Stackhouse, Walthour, Mitchell, Ingram-Dawkins, Logue, Jefferson & Brinson. Walker could go pro after this year but everyone else is back for 2022 Jalen Carter will be the main man for 2022 at DT. Shaw could work is way in the rotation just like Carter did in '20 but he would not be force into early playing time. Now in 2023 the NG spot could be all his, as he is more talented than anyone up top but Carter.

but here you are replying.... I'm just setting the record straight as PAW is give bad info on UGAs depth and why Shaw is leaning to the Dawgs now.
Give bad info on UGA and you can expect me to post here to correct it.

You know, with all the hate-speech on display today you would think folks would use better judgment than to reference a word like “chink...” Do better.

You know, with all the hate-speech on display today you would think folks would use better judgment than to reference a word like “chink...” Do better.
The phrase "chink in one's armor" has been used idiomatically since the mid-17th century. It is based on a definition of chink meaning "a crack or gap," dating back to around 1400.[3]
The fact that the word you deem offensive was being used centuries before the same word was ever used to offend any ethnic group is significant. The term chink in the armor had nothing to do with race. It concerned the definition of the word chink. If we ban all words later used as a ethnic or racial slur, we might be unable to communicate period. I am white, but do not think the word cracker should be banned just because some have used it as an offensive term for white people. By your logic, saltine crackers should not be on a box of satline crackers. Political correctness run amok!!!!

After re-reading the entire thread, I agree. I thought you seriously found the term offensive, until I saw the first reply in the thread. I then saw your thumbs up gif after someone posted he hoped that was sarcasm. The political correct bunch has actually caused some sports commentators to apoligize for using the term, which as I stated was a phrase long before it was used by any racist. I get so tired of the "woke" crowd getting offended over common words and phrases that have no offensive intent. It is getting crazy. I look for "spic and span" to be attacked soon, and the company may be forced to re-name their cleaning products. I would not think it possible, but never thought a syrup maker would bow down to political pressure either. A Washington football team, that will be un-named...literally...has shown how far the cancel culture has affected everything.

I know it’s been mentioned on the recruiting trail about how Venables has given his son considerable playing time over more talented players. I could see that influencing recruits.

We were dang lucky he was available and on the team. He is a star. 44 tackles (5.5 for loss), 2.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a forced fumble in 319 snaps over nine games (four starts) … third team All-ACC.

I can assure you Jake Venables is not a stud. If you watch him in games it's easy to see how slow and unathletic he is when compared with his backup Vonta Bentley. Venables wouldn't see the field at Bama, OSU, or UGA.

Come'on man. You don't know what's gonig on behind the scenes. Maybe bentley didn't know the playbook well enough yet or was slow to pick up assignments....point is you and i have no clue but to insinuate that Jake played only because he's Venables' son is off base. IMO As much as Venables wants to win there's absolutely no way he's going to put the team at a disadvantage just to play his son.
And you act like Jake is the worst LB to ever step onto a field. He's a serviceable backup.

He doesn't have to be a stud. He was missed after his injury last year. May not play as valuable a role this year but still a good two deep man.

Tigerroar you seem to go out of your way to use a racial slur that CPaw tried to avoid. I’m betting you would use slurs for other minority groups given the chance. No place for that at Clemson or on this board.
