it looks like Ross is there today. recruiting players like Ross could certainly have pushed Copeland down our board, but it's not like the coaches had both guys in town and were ignoring one

Ignored in the sense that they made it clear he was not a priority.

I see what you are saying. The coaches should be truthful with the prospects. Being ignored when you are invited as a guest is not good.

Here's my reasoning about Copeland. By all the sites, he was a top 30 recruit who loved Clemson and was ready to commit. Ever heard of oversigning when you are on a roll? Ross is a great receiver but Alabama and Auburn will pull out all the stops to keep him in state. Jordyn Adams was bought and paid for by UNC by hiring his father as coach. Dennis Smith appears to be no longer on our list. Copeland wanted to come and was a 4 star player. I hope we get Ross or turn Adams.

Copeland doesn't check of all the boxes required for our coaches to pursue.

Please explain check all the boxes. Is it athletic ability questions or off the field stuff?

Personally, I don't think there's any mystery to failing to check all the boxes. The staff has been pretty transparent when it comes to the type of player and maturity sought. A lot falls outside the lines of the football field...a LOT...and apparently, Copeland misses on those significant intangibles. Things that can't be taught overnight...if ever.

but that's quite different than ignored. It just doesn't sound like our coaches to burn bridges with a guy when Jordyn Adams is trending away and Justyn Ross' recruitment is still very much in it's infancy. I understand if Copeland wasn't the star he expected to be for the weekend, but I'm just surprised that his recruitment took a turn like this.

STS has mentioned this a few times as well as TCI. He is ranked highly and a heck of a player but the staff has their own evaluations that are much different. With numbers so tight, they may be fine only taking 1 WR this cycle unless someone like Ross comes into play.

Where did you get that info? I doubt staff totally ignored a player if Copeland's caliber. Limited space is making it difficult for some recruits to understand where Clemson stands per position such as WR.
Go Tigers!

I've followed Copeland for quite some time on Twitter. He's a bit of an attention hound. Maybe with all the STUDS in town and with XT's commitment, he didn't get his necessary attention. He made comments about being a "fallback" right after he left Clemson. Maybe he wanted to commit but they didn't allow it

All pay sights reporting that Copeland did not have offer

that was committable from Clemson. Sounds like he wanted to come here but we just don't have room. We have a very small class size and our team is loaded w/ young WR talen. He also plays the same WR as Kenderick who is already committed. We are not recruiting Dennis Smith either. I would think we would just got for a 5 star type player like Ross and if we miss use the scholarship somewhere else. WR is low priority unless an absolute stud.

Copeland is a top 30 recruit it's not like he isn't close to being a 5 star himself. And Ross I like his height but says he runs a 4.87 given that could be junior or earlier time but sped like that he would be big down field threat due to his size and range def not speed so prob limited to 9'man isn't that where mike played get those mixed up. But boundary wr w.e you want to call him as Copeland was 6-1 and was very fast reminded me of Sammy both are Grade A recruits but Ross isn't so far ahead in talent than Copeland. Plus it might be hard pull him out of Alabama when Copeland named us his leader couple weeks back idk I trust staff but don't think Ross is worth oversigning and Copeland isn't

You think they are basing everything off of recruiting rankings? Yeah to someone blindly looking at 247, yeah he looks like a stud. They don't see a fit for Copeland and they're pretty good at that sort of thing.

I go off the film I watch, not just a ranking the only reason I brought that up is they were saying Ross a 5 star is worth oversign but Copeland isn't. I've watched good bit of film on both and like Copeland speed more think he was Sammy Watkins type and at 6 1 not much smaller than Ross but I understand character and other factors come in and trust coaches was just saying to ppl on this board that Copeland is worth a oversign same as Ross based off just what I've seen in field never met either one can't speak for their character
