Atlanta bar for watching Clemson football
Aug 26, 2013, 11:27 AM

What's the best bar to watch Clemson football games with Clemson fans in Atlanta?
I planned to watch the Georgia game at home... but it's probably best to have good Clemson people to be with for the Georgia game...

You're just a couple hours away from the epicenter of college football next Saturday... Make the trip!

My heart can't handle witnessing another loss to that team in person. Georgia is my South Carolina because I've lived in metro-Atlanta since 1993.
I used to be friends with fans of that team. I do not care to run into them. They will be there wearing red and black, barking and drooling.
Finally, I'm saving myself for The Citadel.

From South Georgia and lived in metro-Atlanta since 2000.
I can attest that ATL UGA fans are a different level of obnoxious than the rural ones. Truly the worst fans.
My wife's never been to a Clemson game and I initially thought this would be a great one because she also can't stand the UGA arrogance.
But like you, I just cannot bear the thought of trudging home after seeing a defeat to them in person.
Think I'll go to GT and/or FSU games instead.
Guess I'm not "All In."

I posted the question in an attempt to find an Atlanta bar that would be exclusively Clemson fans for the evening.
I absolutely have confidence Clemson can win. Clemson has also lost the last five games with Georgia.

Maybe any sports bar near GT campus is safe?

At least safe from being dominated by Dawgs.
Or maybe you could check with the local Clemson Club? In other places I've lived I found some Clemson football meeting spots for certain games that way. ATL may be tough because it is so close though - most may make the trek.

Just better hop those dawgs don't show up there and start barking if they win! That would be bad!

I used to live 10 min from GT, and there were barely any fans out watching the games on Saturdays.

Info From Atlanta Clemson Club
Aug 26, 2013, 12:11 PM

I also live in Atlanta. Im not 100% on this, because I am not involved with running the Atlanta Clemson Club, but in the past, they have not hosted an event in Atlanta if there is a home game.
That being said, I found some info here: https://cualumni.clemson.edu/sslpage.aspx?pid=445 They are having a kickoff happy hour on thursday at The Georgia Rib Company in Marietta, and it has a blurb further down the page about viewing parties for home games
It looks like they will be updating the FB page closer to gameday, as there will not be an official get together: "So, if you are planning to go out and watch a televised home game somewhere, let us know and we will be updating locations both our on Facebook page and on our website, www.theatlantaclemsonclub.com"
Posting on the FB and trying to round up a few people and pick a bar yourselves i probably your best bet. I know that Deadwood Saloon in Midtown used to host the ATL Tigers, but not sure if you are close to downtown or not. HTH.

My experience with clubs around DC and Boston

is that there are ways to reach out to the Club members and find out either where the Clemson fans flock in general (bars) or if there is a planned gathering for a game. No doubt many in ATL are probably making the trek, but I have to think there are so many (tens of thousands???) that they won't all go. Years ago when I lived in Athens, I remember seeing one of the ATL TV stations interviewing Clemson fans gathered at some bar for a home game. Don't remember the specifics, but it was probably 94 or 95. During the West era maybe many didn't feel as inspired to drive north for home games.....

scottsdaletiger: Thank you for understanding my question and posting information that actually answers said question!
I watch an Ohio State game or two a year with friends at an Irish pub in Buckhead. The Ohio State/School From Up North game draws hundreds of people to the bar and its massive banquet room.
I am constantly surprised there's not the same kind of venue for Clemson people in Atlanta. However, we are only a two hour drive to Clemson...

I'm too poor to go to the game, having just finished law school at UGA, so I'm stuck watching the game with my dawg friends in Atlanta. It shouldn't be too bad, though. A little adversity never hurt anybody. As a lady tiger, though, I feel like other fans are generally nicer to me, so your mileage may vary.
