Whos your weekend pitching rotation for next season?

1

Jun 12, 2024, 2:02 PM

If you was to take a guess now who would you guess the weekend starters are next season.

Friday- Knaak I want to see our best on the mound on Friday. Knaak is our Ace.

Saturday- Smith I assume he’s staying and should come back much improved. He was injured came back seemed like he lost a step. I think he picks that step back up next season.

Sunday- Gordon he needs to start not close! What he did against Florida was a great performance. Assuming he’s returning if not hopefully one of this year’s freshmen steps up.

Gotcha didn't realize his age. I do however think Coach Bakich could have the Dabo effect on draft eligible players and get players to come back for one more year who would have traditionally been gone. Also with increased NIL money for baseball i think that possibility increases too.🤞

I expect Bell to sign a mlb contract. Wentworth as well.***

That is what you can an "effortless" 93 mph. Such a smooth delivery.

I like the idea of Smith as a closer. Hard throwing lefties seem to be extremely effective late in the game.

Not sure Gordon can be a consistent 5-6 inning starter. His slider and fastball are great. But generally need 3-4 pitches to last a while as a starter. (for the record his slider was ELECTRIC on Sunday)

Knaak is the only solidified spot in my opinion and yes, he's the Friday guy.

Talan Bell is a lock to start pending injury. I do realize he’s not even on campus yet, but with our current pitching roster, does it really matter? We also have Brenden Bennett incoming freshmen LHP from Michigan. He’s up to 93 already.

Charlie what are your thoughts on Gordon returning? Is he expected to return?

He’s not. Given what we saw from him…. 97 mph with that slider. Gonna be hard to get him out the top 5 rounds. Coach expects him to go

Why would Bell not go to the draft if he's that good? You rarely see a 10 on Perfect Game.

I'm genuinely asking, not being a pain.

Not an expert, but liked what I saw out of McGovern against Florida. No idea if he can be a starter!

There is a high probability Bell never makes it to campus. The same was said about Knaak after his senior yet here he is, so you never know.

NIL money might stop the draft blues for Clemson. Sure would be nice.

So much different stuff can happen with HS kids and the draft. Its almost impossible to predict. Most of it depends on how much $$ the player is willing to sign for. If you tell teams you need $1 million to skip college, then you basically need to be picked in the top 2-3 rounds. Some other HS kid just as good or even worse will say his number is $750k and get drafted in the 4th round and the other guy asking $1 million won't get his name called.

It ends up being a brutal game of "wait and see" for everyone involved.

One of mine will have to start from the portal where he will probably still be this time next season;)

Just thinking out loud but would this be a better question to ask once we knew the names of the pictures who are in next season’s roster?

Better question to ask after the draft July 16th

Yup, too early to play this game. In addition to waiting until after the draft, you have to see who we land in the portal. At this time last year, our starting RF and both of our SS were not Tigers yet.
