Alcohol is unsafe even in moderate amounts

What does this relatively new discovery say about the verses in the Bible that seem to not only condone but promote its use?

Ecclesiastes 9:7:
"Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.

Proverbs 31:6-7:
"Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more."

Psalm 104:15
"And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart".

I'm a proponent of legalizing pot...

even though it caused me to be lazy and unproductive in my late teens. I'm OK with it because this is America and I know that pot doesn't do everyone that way. I had a GF whose sister had cancer. The lady was doing chemotherapy and couldn't eat without throwing up. She was starving. The pot settled her stomach and she could eat and nourish her body.

That's not the only reason I think pot should be legalized. All the money we spend fighting drugs has had no real return. It's a market driven by demand whether or not the supply is sufficient. As long as we continue to make drugs illegal then the demand will remain higher than the drug users. It's clear our laws are only to serve those who make a living selling drugs and those who arrest them, lawyers who defend and prosecute them and the prison system which is so packed that child predators, rapist, murders and criminals who harm the innocent can get off easy.

I know, take it to the politics bored.

For the record: I didn't quit smoking pot because it made me lazy. I quit because I stopped enjoying being high. The day I felt shamed to God I realized whether or not He approved it didn't matter. Shame is a killer of an emotion. I don't feel ashamed about throwing back a couple beers.

I don't drink more than one because two makes my BP rise which seems like I'm suffering a hangover. Yes, I'm a light weight.

It amazes me that people think they need an ironically overweight dude in a suit and tie stand up and tell them what they should and should not put in their bodies.

imagine whether that sentence should end with a period, question mark or exclamation mark. I almost stopped reading at WHO but made it a handful of sentences before I burst out laughing.

Alcohol causes cancer? REALLY!?!

No, what causes cancer is the labs who get paid to find things that cause cancer. Fortunately for us, we're not usually lab rats.

Sunlight causes cancer. The leading cause of death is birth.

They say everybody dies, but my plan is to live forever. So far, so good.

Beer and wine in small amounts at one time was actually believed to be beneficial to health.

Regardless of when it was discovered, the Bible does still promote its use.

Amazing how the media can celebrate homosexuality and promote "pills" to cover your physical illness caused by it, but grilling hamburgers or a drink of alcohol is bad, bad, bad.

earth was entering an ice age. Just check the rush on electric blankets of the late 1980s.

OK, that electric blanket thing was a joke but at one time the sensationalist believed earth was entering an age of cooling and elaborated that it would be the return of the ice age. I kept on water skiing in Feb and laughed at it as a hoax.

Ah the good ole drink or not to drink discussion as it says in the Bible.

I have heard many a Christian struggle with the idea that Jesus' first miracle was just to keep the party going.

This is not that type of post though.

If the Bible is found to promote something that science has proven to be bad for our health, does that put the nail in the coffin of infallibility?
