I think our guys are happy to be playing this weekend.
Even further, there’s still a chance that ND gets left out entirely since they don’t have a chance to prove their worth this weekend. Not likely, but there’s a chance.

In fact, right now, they're the only team that can say that.

ND will be in. Only way would be if Bama loses a very close game and the committee puts UGA, BAMA, Clemson, and either the B1G 10 or Big 12 Champ in. But I think they'd put ND in over either of those if UGA were to win. You think SEC officials call Bama and tell them to let UGA have the SECCG so they can get two teams in?? ??

Overall, it would be a great thing for college football if they were left out, and shown that no team is too big to pull the stunts they pull - but it won't happen.
Either way, barring injury, I think it's a good thing we're playing and ND taking a month long hiatus may come back to bite them..

I agree. Would make them join a conference. But as you said, it won't happen. They absolutely want ND in.

I’d say considering ND has already played and destroyed PITT this season along with the fact that Clemson played one of their games vs Furman, ND’s 12-0 is not all that different than our 13-0, right?
Also our two best wins are currently #19&20. They beat the current #7 team who was in the playoff 6 days ago. Not a lot of room for argument about ND from my side.
All that said, I think they should join a conference, and soon.

"Destroyed Pitt"?? You serious Clark? They beat Pitt 15-19 AT HOME. "Destroyed" is a pretty strong term for that snoozer. Also - after the mask was pulled off Michigan last week, I can't really come up with a defining win for them.
Yea, our schedule hasn't been stellar either - but at least we'll have 13 wins and a Conference Championship..

My mistake gentleman, I didn’t remember the Pitt/ND game being that close. It was Penn State that pummeled them, and I was thinking ND for some reason. Still ND has a better win, but obviously need to hurry up and join a conference so all is equal. This having to compare apples to oranges every year for one of the playoff spots is getting old.

Bull crap coot. 12 does not equal 13. The ND didn't destroy Pitt. Have ND play 13 games and a conference championship. ND plays some real powder puffs and doesn't have the pressure of playing conference games.

12 does equal 13 when one of the 13 is an FCS.
Granted Ball State was ND's scrub team to play this year, but they are not FCS.
You could also say they have even more pressure on them in the regular season since they don't have a conference championship game to allow a CFP play in if they had lost (such as UGA's opportunity).

USC is the equivalent of a conference game. Was also at USC. Not that a tough environment but cross country travel doesn't help.
If you want to pick on margin of victory then I would suggest citing their slim Pitt margin to bolster any argument.

Conference champ osu and Oklahoma should trump them.
Heck, they are talking about a 2 loss UGA even jumping the big10 and 12 conference champ.
No way in heck ND should be sitting care free.

Just another example of ND bias. They're the only team with their own major network for sports (NBC - and no, I don't count the Longhorn network) & the only Independent team who would ever have a shot at getting in. The fact that they're part of the ACC in every sport BUT football makes me sick.

They could just as easily be in the position of needing one more good win to move up into the top 4. ND has played and beaten 12 FBS teams. Has any other team done that yet?

Who did they play when we played Furman? It was Michigan. They already played the ACC Coastal and the Big 10 West champions. I think its fair to say an undefeated ND team who does not play an FCS team deserves to be in the top 4. My gut tells me they are the most beatable team in the top 4 so I'm happy to get stuck playing them.
Its funny that we played OU (no championship game), OSU (PSU won the East and Big 10), Alabama (Auburn won the West), and now ND (no championship game).

my guess is they would rather be playing to try and get better.... That effort was not very impressive, USC outplayed ND but of course bad teams find ways to lose and ND took advantage to stay unbeaten.
