Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 4, 2022, 9:59 AM

BEST O - Line or left tackle for protection ?

BEST Nose tackle or DE for better defense ??

or BEST non QB Offensive weapon for Trevor to throw to ???

I don't know what they need or how many picks they may have already traded away ..... but they should get the first pick in draft

I would use the entire draft to get o lineman, they need a lot of help there.

They need as much help at any position on Defense. They actually need a WHOLE TEAM with the exception of QB……

That’s a hard one because they need so much but I would go OL and WR

Probably Pickett.

Jan 4, 2022, 10:03 AM

The TL experiment was fun, but they know they have to cut their losses early.

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 4, 2022, 10:04 AM

Pretty early in the evaluation process, but if I'm them I think I trade down a few spots. Stay in range of one of the top 3-4 OL to take with the first pick, but gain additional draft capital. They need help at so many spots, and that #1 pick is very valuable on the trade market.

I say you need to protect your investment in a "franchise" QB by protecting HIM with that lynch pin great left tackle.

Jan 4, 2022, 10:29 AM [ in reply to Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ? ]

This is not a horrible idea. Not sure how much the Jags can get with trading down considering the perception is that there is no generational QB out there this draft.

TL might still provide quite a haul if they trade him for draft picks.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They need to trade the No. 1 pick...

Jan 4, 2022, 10:19 AM

for a whole bunch of 2nd and 3rd round picks. They need help, and a bunch of it, at almost every position but particularly along both the OL and DL

Trade the #1 to a team that needs a QB for the #4 or #5

No #1 qbs this draft It’s going to be a DL.. Georgia DT or DE from Bama or Michigan

They need to trade the pick for more picks.

One player can't help jax....you see that with Trevor, Trevor is a great talent but they got him looking terrible

They have to stockpile talent

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Some of it might depend on who the new Head Coach is,or if the G.M. is willing to trade down for a couple more picks.

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 4, 2022, 10:27 AM

Trade #1 for another pick in first round and a proven OL or WR.. then use pick to get the other.

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 4, 2022, 10:37 AM

To bad they can't get a new franchise/Team Owner out the draft. Anything less would be a waste of top talent IMHO!!!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

or trade that pick & get way more bang for their buck

Jan 4, 2022, 10:43 AM

They need two top tier OL, one good Def interior Lineman, an offensive playmaker that has YAC ability. Thats one thing Trevor never had. A guy that could catch it and then make a play and get to the endzone..i mean, every once in a while extend a play. I watch Burrow throw to Chase and he makes one cut and turns a 15 yard hook route into a 75 yard TD.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 4, 2022, 10:53 AM

Evan Neal if they keep the pick, best OL in draft, unless they can trade out and get extra picks, Oline is awful. TL will get etienne and chark back next year, maybe grab a decent TE late.....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 4, 2022, 11:15 AM

Should have traded the Trevor pick last year for as many draft picks as they could get and began building. Trevor with no help is going nowhere. Dallas traded Herschel Walker for a bunch of picks - led to Aikman, Irving, etc and Super Bowl. Not sure this franchise has that much smart.

They need help everywhere.

Trade it away for multiple picks in the first 3 rounds.

Nothing against ETN, but taking a running back where they did was a mistake.

have them taking a DL. The jags probably don’t even know which direction they’ll go in until they’ve hired a new coach and he’s had time to scout the team and collaborate with the gm.

I think it's best that they trade down

Jan 4, 2022, 11:57 AM

And get a few more picks to completely retool their OLine. They'll probably go for WR early too those are probably their biggest needs in a team that has A LOT of needs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

IMO there isn't an OT worthy of the #1 overall pick this

Jan 4, 2022, 12:14 PM

year which leaves the Jaguars with 3 options.

1) Trade down a few spots and draft an OT

2) Take the best player on the board which appears to still be Aidan Hutchinson from Michigan

3) Take an OT anyway (probably Evan Neal from Bama) and sacrifice some draft capital to ensure they get OL help.

The Jaguars have so many holes that I'm sure they would prefer to trade down, but there are a couple of potential issues with that this year. First, there just aren't any top notch QB prospects this year to trade up to #1 for. Second, front offices seem to be trending away from paying massive premiums to trade up in general.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 4, 2022, 1:39 PM

I'd trade back a few spots to gain a few more picks. Unfortunately, without a major QB prospect this season that pick wouldn't be as valuable as normal. However, as usual some QB will move up the board after the combine and some team will be willing to trade up in order to take a chance on them.

I'd use that first pick to get the best OL available, and do the same again in the 2nd round. Maybe use a 3rd round pick to get Lawrence a receiver he's familiar with by taking Ross. I say 3rd round while not really being sure where Ross will be projected in the draft at this point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

IMO Ross hasn't done anything since his FR year to justify

Jan 4, 2022, 9:23 PM

a very high draft pick. Some of that is through absolutely no fault of his own, but he hasn't been a particularly impactful receiver since his FR year and his spinal condition will no doubt be heavily scrutinized.

Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ?

Jan 5, 2022, 7:45 AM [ in reply to Re: Who do the Jags take with pick #1 in draft ? ]

Ross will be very lucky if he gets drafted at all. He'll probably go in the last round if he goes at all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If there were ever a time to trade down, this would be the time.

Jan 5, 2022, 12:57 AM

That means trading #1 pick for more #1 and #2 picks and select veteran O-linemen. The D reeks as do the WR's but let's start with allowing TL16 to live to play another day and season.

I hope Khan takes my advice as well as Dabo does.
