Where does this coot loss rank in the rivalry

I mentioned earlier this one was particularly disappointing and I’m now an old guy who doesn’t typically get bothered by such things anymore.

2022 was bad because it cost us a playoff spot. But we had won so many in a row it almost seemed inevitable they would win one at some point and it almost seemed like a fluke.

The 1979 loss was a bad one. Both teams ranked, we’d beaten Notre Dame in South Bend. Had to endure weeks of abuse at school from coot fans.

1987 was also a bad one. Like this year and 1979, both teams were ranked. Prime time game on ESPN. Rodney Williams had a terrible night. It was a very cold night. Had to endure the torment from coot co workers until they got killed in their bowl and we spanked Penn State.

The 2012 and 2013 games were frustrating because I thought we were as good as them but crapped the bed.

Guess the moral of this story is it doesn’t go well for us when both are ranked. And those suck the worst.

To lose 2 in a row at home, where it can be lain right at the feet of the staff is almost unforgivable, especially against your rival. It seems they take a ho-hum attitude to me. I guess I could be wrong but it is what I see.

Surely seem to be the case which amplifies our losses to them. The bright side is they aren't ranked very often.

I think SCAR has won 6 of 7 games when both teams were ranked. Not a great pattern for us.

The other side of the coin is that they are almost never ranked when we play them.

In 2012 and 2013, Clemson had the better team.***

There's something in these hills.

Considering our own coaching staff alone cost us both of these home games back to back, it's ranked in the top 15 somewhere.

Unforgiveable...

Like you I am an old guy but this one still has me worked up more than any I can remember. Because of the stakes and the need to stop their apparent momentum I think this one is probably the worst. It's clear they have closed the gap and caught up to us in a short time. The other thing is knowing we have to face that QB for a few more.

This kind of feels like 1994 because they dominated us at DV, and it looked like they had caught/passed us with Brad Scott and were on to great things.

2006 was just a game.

2022 I guess was the only comparable one due to possible CFP but just felt so fluky with DJ's implosion and fluky special teams stuff. I still felt we were a better team.

Even the 2009-2013 stretch didn't hurt as much as this. I think I was just numb to it after a few years and knew that they were in their glory years with Spurrier.
