What's the point of this? Seems awfully wasteful

considering the chargers and vehicles were already paid for.
The Trump administration is shutting down EV chargers at all federal government buildings and is also expected to sell off the General Services Administration‘s (GSA) newly bought EVs.
GSA, which manages all federal government-owned buildings, also operates the federal buildings’ EV chargers. Federally owned EVs and federal employee-owned personal EVs are charged on those 8,000 charging ports.

How is it reducing costs? They're going to sell the vehicles they just bought at a loss and have to buy new ones, and the chargers were generating revenue. Not sure they will even be able to sell those off. Seems like this policy is motivated purely by spite.

Some of the changes I actually support but this just seems petty and spiteful (like you said). Some of the changes/measures they have taken…cruelty/spite is the point.

Like most of this administration’s executive orders and initiatives, this is not based on economics or inefficiencies or reducing costs.
Trump put less than one minute of thought into this.
This action is quick easy red meat for Fox News to feed to the gullible sheep. They have no clue they just see a strong leader reducing costs and saving America.
Not hard to fool em.
See ClemsonRangers response in this thread.😂

I hope that's not the whole story. If it doesn't seem right, there's probably more to it.
I do not like the $5k handouts either - not one bit. I have not looked into the details, but it is way too soon to be cashing in on any savings dividend.

We both know that's not what's going to happen. They're just going to waste more taxpayer money on new ICE vehicles.
Anyway, the fattest and unhealthiest states are pretty much all red states:

China sells EVs that can go 600 miles on a single charge. EV and battery tech is rapidly improving. I don't think that's what this is about.

No one believes that, but some energy sources are cleaner than others. EVs can be charged with renewable energy or nuclear power. What does that have to do with shutting down EV chargers and selling off newly bought vehicles, though?

There's also a difference between a power plant miles outside of town emitting pollutants that are diluted into the atmosphere before coming into contact with human lungs, and vehicles polluting the air at street level in major cities where lots of people are.
