What’s so bad is..

The stars aligned perfectly for a average ND the night we traveled to South Bend. Punt block.. 2 pick 6.. put us in a 3 touchdown hole against a ball control “run” team (the only thing ND is actually good at). I see that game as a anomaly that came at a horrible time with us already “IN” the playoff. ND was physical that night but we gave them maximum hope with our horrendous mistakes.

All we can do is keep playing Clemson Football (winning) and see how this thing unfolds.

I look at this a little differently:

Navy (not good) - held ND to 66 yards rushing
Navy (not good) - Ran for 255 yards against ND

So why couldn't we stop the run nor run the ball against ND - we are not even in the same hemisphere when comparing the level of athleticism between Clemson and Navy.

Marshall also ran the ball twice as many times as we did. Shipley getting only 12 carries in that game was ridiculous. I get that once we got down, the gameplan probably changed, but I'd much rather see Shipley get the ball than all those stupid screen passed out to the flats. Looked like Rob Spence was calling the plays in the first half.

No excuse for not being able to stop their running game though. We knew that's what they were going to do, and couldn't stop it when it mattered.

The way Notre Dame played early in the season had no relation to how much they improved and how well they played against us. The simple fact is if any team does not play well, they can be beaten by any other team, especially a team with as much talent and motivation as Notre Dame had.

the game was already decided. So 1 TD was going to beat us.

The wind made it difficult to throw - but our run game was surprisingly inept against their D.

Shipley was averaging 7 ypc in the first half and 5.2 ypc on the game. How many carries did he have in the 2nd half...5 or 6?? Mafah was 3.7 ypc on the night.

I don't buy that we couldn't run the ball.
