I think that he played in too many ganes the year requested. even though he played few snaps I think it was in about 5 diff games

he's not in the sec.

the ncaa really has no rhyme or reason as an governing committee, and i don't think this is just an opinion.

Probably for player safety. NCAA was told by Nick Saban that there was no need to subject him to an extra year playing on a team with a fast paced offense!!!

I think the request was sent in with a Clemson letterhead, and was immediately "filed away" in the shredder.

I was told Clemson either has or will appeal the decision***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

It's a pretty cut and dry rule. 4 games or less you can get

Mar 13, 2014, 12:03 PM

one. 5 or more you can't.

If I'm remembering it correctly. Steward played in 5. If the rule is as I remember it, don't see what good appealing will do.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because the NCAA doesn't enforce its own rules....

Mar 13, 2014, 12:08 PM

fairly or consistently across the board.

They have established precedents by granting dispensations in the past where the limit on the number of games played was exceeded.

correct .. seen this more and more recently

Mar 13, 2014, 2:57 PM

Clemson applied originally the season it happened a couple of years ago-- they were turned down but that was no surprise as medical hardships(6th year typically) aren't usually requested until an athlete has exhausted his eligibility which would be the end of this season

Mar 13, 2014, 3:03 PM

yep I think they are a little more free with 6th years recently

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Interesting, didn't know that.

Do you have an example of a player? Want to look up their story and figure out why they were treated differently.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh wow....there are literally dozens and dozens of them.***
