It was a shame Clemson dumped men's wrestling.... they were a top ten program every year. My roomie at Clemson in 1998 was a former wrestler for Clemson and it was a shame they dropped the program.
I agree on mens/womens lacrosse too.... would be a great add and easy to get top players from the NE to come to Clemson.
Our athletic dept is doing great.... our programs and players are representing us so well and winning at the highest level. Let's keep this going.

During covid, ESPN was airing all kinds of wacky sports. They literally had the rock skipping championship on one day. Bunch of dudes standing on the shore of a lake taking turns skipping stones. Xxxxxxx weird and hilarious at the same time.

As is. This is not really a wrestling area of the country even though we did used to have a team.
Now that we’ve added softball, gymnastics I don’t think there is a glaring hole in our offerings

A top 10 ranked wrestling team. If memory serves me Clemson had about a half dozen ncaa all American wrestlers/placerments in about a 4 year period before the program was canned in the 90’s. That’s fairly successful!
The growth of wrestling in the south has been phenomenal with the AAU/USA youth tournaments. Atlanta area USA youth wrestling tournaments have attendance in the thousands every Saturday. It’s been that way for decades. The lack of power 5 college wrestling suppresses the growth in the south. NC State is a top 10 wrestling program now. VA Tech is a top 15 program now. App State is a top 25 program. If we want to be in the B1G of Big 12 it’s a program to bring back. SEC not so much.

The unfortunate reality is that college athletics departments will likely get smaller before they get larger. The exception is when they are adding women’s sports. That trend started 20 years ago and I think that will continue to be the case moving forward.

Title IX would probably be an issue, but w/ women's wrestling growing, could probably add men's & women's teams as a compromise.
ACC has improved at national level in recent years, already have LJC/Jervey as home match venues...practice facilty would be a new expense for an athletic department already paying off a slew of facility builds/renovations.

Amen. Our swimmers and divers were great kids - quite mischievous but a great bunch. Earned tons academic awards and ACC internships.
Put a new pool on campus - make it 50 meters and they will come.

Men's Ice Hockey.... Clemson has had a team since 1995 and they are good. I went to grad school at Duke 20 years after I graduated from Clemson (1999 from Clemson, 2017 from Duke) and I played on Duke's club ice hockey team (it was half undergrads, half grad students). We played Clemson in G'ville. It was full contact and we only had 7 skaters. When we played Clemson, they absolutely murdered us. We lost two guys to concussion so we were playing iron man ice hockey vs Clemson's 17 skaters, mostly from NJ.
They are good. UNCC, UVA, UNC, UGA, Elon, ASU, ECU all have good club hockey teams.
Heck... add women's too. I know ice hockey is a bit foreign to the south, but its a fun game and the hitting is awesome.

When I went to Clemson 95-99, outside of the Carolinas and Georgia, I would be willing to guess NJ was the most represented state.
Lots of buddies from the Garden State even back then. Hear its even more so now.
