The "my 401k!" crowd has gone silent. Is it because the Dow is up 40% (+10,000) since 5 years ago?

Interesting theory. But if seeing a Democrat leaving office leads to Dow increases, then how come it went up 1,000 points between the day Biden won the 2020 election to his first day in office?

This year has been good. We have a ways to go to get back to where we were a couple years ago. Of course my financial planner calls that “anchoring” and tells me I can’t focus on where we were but should focus on how we are still making money over time. I tell him I absolutely understand that but I also see money in my account that was once there and is no longer there. Oh well, it is a better year for sure. I hope we can put together a bull run over a couple years to get back to the highs and exceed it. Would be nice.

that inevitably gets revised a month or two later.
For examples:
$2.00 gas is $3.50
$2.00 bread is $3.50
$2.00 milk is $3.00
I could go on but I just stuck to some basics... The 20% figure is total BS.

Nvidia develops real-time physics engines, real-time crowd simulations, real-time vehicle simulations, real-time facial capture, real-time fluid simulations, the list goes on.... The film industry is all over them, AMD is the only thing that would stand in their way, and that is laughable. They will eventually have a complete monopoly on the GPU hardware market.

It is funny how gaming, of all things, pushed hardware innovation, until Hollywood said, "hold My beer."
This is done with off-the-shelf RTX GPUs used in real-time environments, as well as digital replacements for background actors, why do you think they are striking?. We are a few years away from digitally digging up John Wayne and not batting an eyelash at the realism, all controlled in real time by an off-screen actor.

endgame was neural implants to augment reality, in real-time, and make our shiddy polluted wasteland look like the Garden of Eden, as well as our windowless Tiujuana flat a spacious loft with an oceanfront view. But we will still have to spend our days mining resources for the .1% on Elysium.
But even worse, our movies, music and entertainment will not be conducted by real people, but by quantum computing generated AI that we are oblivious to, regurgitating the same nonsense, to keep us enslaved.

Exactly. It’s been nice to see a little bit of a stock rally but no one can say their money can do what it could a few years ago. I sincerely wonder how older people on a fixed income are surviving in this mess. Very sad.

So just out of curiosity why did you include 2 1/2 years of Trumps Presidency in your calculation? I went back and checked the Dow from Trump's Inauguration 2017 to Bidens Inauguration in 2021. The Dow was up 56% in Trumps 4 yrs. So far the Dow is up 15% in Bidens term which is over half complete. A lot of ground to make up. I guess thats why you quoted 5 yr as opposed to only 2 1/2 years for old Joe. Chuck Todd would be proud of you, LOL. Feel free to go back and check me on this.

Because it's easy to look at the last 5 years on charts. I trust your numbers; they seem right.
