What bothers me the most about all this BS,

Sep 26, 2021, 9:13 AM

and all the fans now calling Tony Elliott, is when I started calling out TE and his play calling for 3 years now, I was getting TDed and called out by T-Netters, and being accused of not being a solid Clemson. Now that TE has really been exposed without a coach Scott, a DW4, and a TL16 to bail out his horrific mediocre play calling. And now some of the very same T-Netters that were blasting me are just noticing, and saying the very same things that I was saying about Tony over 3 years ago. Tony Elliott's inability to scheme his play calling didn't just start this season, it has been there all along, and elite QB's, WR's, and ETN were covering for Tony's inability to call plays.

If Dabo would have hired himself an experience OC when the Chad left, I believe there would have been maybe two more Natty trophies in our trophy case, and if not two more, there surely would have been at least one more with DW4, or TL16 behind center.

Taking a look at what I believe to be the truth, even with TE's inabilities, and mediocre play calling, there isn't a doubt in my mind that DW4, TL16, and Jeff Scott is what help to hide TE's inabilities as an average Offensive Coordinator. Now with DJ's inability to use his legs the same as DW4 and TL16, TE's true ability, or lack of ability is shinning brighter than ever!!!!

If Dabo would have looked for an experienced OC the very moment he saw how anxious the Chad was to take any head coaching job that was offered to be his own boss at the college level, he wouldn't be in the situation that he's now in, and TE would still be our RBs coach, a job that I think that he was OK doing.

Now, Dabo maybe in the very same situation he was in when he fired Kevin Steele, and hired BV bc, I don't think that Tony would be willing to step down to being just a tight ends coach. What I do know is that with the troubles that Tony is having with scheming an elite offense won't get better no time soon, and Dabo will have to fire another friend like he done with Billy Napier, and Kevin Steele. It's fact that all the fun is in the winning, and keeping your job in college FB is also in the winning.

Dabo has shown to this point, that he is willing to make changes that will help in keeping his FB program at the top, but I just don't think he could get an experienced successful OC to come in as a co-offensive coordinator to teach his long time friend the tricks of trade of coordinating an offense around the talent that you have year in, and year out with no player always being the same as the ones that leave, and that is where Tony's biggest problems begin bc he has never had to scheme for the talent he's had, and with a totally different type of QB than what he has been blessed with in DW4 and TL16, and those types of QBs can make any OC look good!!!

Another issue I think is being overlooked is how inexperienced DJ is. With Scott here, we had another guy that could put input into the play calls. Once he left, we were lucky to have a QB (Trevor) that understood how to read defenses and could call audibles at the line and burn a defense for their coverage. DJ, however, is not there yet and is solely relying on playing Tony's initial play calls, and doesn't have the experience to check out of them. And I think that's why it's becoming more obvious about the play calling. We are now seeing what it's like to have a QB that is green, the game hasn't slowed for yet, and is not experienced enough to read defenses. Both DW and TL could do that.

Correct. Many of us have seen the offensive scheme issues for a few years now and have raised the red flag.

A glaring point is how often over the last few years have we seen Clemson receivers schemed open. Not very much. What I saw yesterday from NC State was a well executed game plan with receivers schemed open by 3 to 5 yards in the short passing game.

I was willing to give and hope Tony would make the necessary changes last year, but he did not. So at this point he needs to go. And not to a TE position coach. That group appears to have regressed and we missed on a couple. I guess it was not all Pearman.

Our offense has struggled in games it shouldn’t have

For years. We heard lots of excuses. Even “manufactured adversity” or something like that.

It is obvious to me we became much better prepared for playoff games when Scott was here. Now we limp into the CFP running the same old tired offense we used all year.
