Heard from several trusted sources that WR Dacari Collins left the team yesterday and will enter the transfer portal when it's open again. I have asked Clemson to confirm, but Coach Swinney is obviously traveling today and out of contact for the most part. So it's not official. But I would say chances are pretty good he won't be back. I will keep you updated as I hear more

This receiving core is not filled with that much talent. If the problem is he is not getting enough time, there is plenty of room for him if he wants it. All you have to do is get serious and step up. I guess he decide to do the opposite.

is a myth propagated on this board. I watch the WRs and routes on most passing plays, and DJ is missing a ton of open guys. His two passes include the 50/50 ball where he's been told go give the receiver a chance, and the throws to wide open guys.
I'll also venture to guess you haven't paid too much attention to receivers on pass plays, and you're merely parroting something you read here.

But he has not yet been consistent. He can throw a nice ball on one pass, then the next isn't. He can run fir a good gain on one play, then get caught flat-footed and get sacked the next.
He is most definitely improved, but he's not there yet. His consistency definitely needs to get better.

You have to assume that we are playing the best players who show it in practice and the games. I don't think anyone so far has been so dominant that a better player would be sitting on the bench. If he thinks he is better and is putting in the work, I don't blame him for transferring and wish him the best of luck.

I was kind of expecting to hear this about EJ just from watching his body language during the games. Dacari hasn’t been getting much playing time so I guess this doesn’t surprise me either.

And we don't need one now.
Portal guys leave their schools to he starters at other schools. The reason Dacari will transfer is because a lack of playing time and getting beat out by a true freshman.
Transfers aren't going to programs to be backups and added depth.

I get the eligibility issue, but it's not like you can enroll elsewhere yet, and you miss and entire season or working out and playing.
I think the risk out weighs the potential reward.

I agree with you. It basically amounts to taking a year off without burning a redshirt. A lot of these guys going into the portal haven’t been finding great spots to land. And I personally see it as quitting on your team and I’m probably not the only one who sees it that way.

Not exactly. Eligibility is a running clock. It starts the day you set foot on a campus and ends 5 years later. All it means is that he can could this year as his red shirt year.

Pretty sure that unless you're a paying customer your down vote is not valid. The system gives him an update instead.
So if he's as obnoxious as you say, he's immune to all complaints--because paying customers generally live and let live--unless you want to pony up just to downvote him. Which is why he gets away with being obnoxious.
Not a perfect system but it makes board maintenance a lot easier.

I think players know!
If you aren't "making plays" or "getting open" then a WR needs to look in the mirror.
Not saying Collins, Dacari hasn't done that. But, if he hasn't, he should.
The WR position makes the QB look better than he is. The back shoulder pass they give QB's all that credit for came about "by accident". Sometimes it's still an accident and the WR tracks the ball well.
I wish Dacari well - but much like Ladson and Ajou how open are you getting? How much separation are you getting and are you showing the QB your numbers? If so, you'll be able to see it in the "ALL 22 Video"! If you can see you are consistently getting open and just not getting the ball thrown your way - that's another matter!
But, I don't believe Dacari and some others are giving the QB's their numbers to throw to enough.
Could be feeling like it's the QB situation or the offense. Or someone else has offered him an opportunity to get some NIL money and promised to feature him.
Who knows! If this is true, can't do anything but wish him the best and move on!

Whatever the cause, its another recruiting miss. Really like our last WR class, but need to start getting more elite types. You would think with our WR history and QBs we have and have coming in, this group wouldn't be an issue

and by all things you read/heard/seen last year, is that he's a hard worker who has been waiting patiently for his time.
When you see others ahead of you drop more passes than you have targets, it's probably frustrating as all get out. Then, add in the fact that Adam Randall is going to come in (right off an ACL and as a freshman no less) and probably get inserted in front of you, that's got to be disheartening.

Hamp Greene has as many catches as Decari. Who in the heck is Hamp Greene?
Even Drew Swinney has 3 catches already.
I wish someone would ask the tough question about why Decari didn't get more targets. He had 16 catches last year and by all accounts was about the right stuff and had a high ceiling.

Hamp Greene is a heck of a WR and will end up helping us in the slot. I guess Dabo just plays the best guys, if your not earning the throws then that’s on you regardless of your experience.

I'm him, and suddenly find myself third on the depth chart at my position, I would most likely make the same decision he is making.
I realize us armchair coaches have all the answers, but to me, Ngata has gotten as good as he is ever going to get. The ceiling for Dacari Collins and Adam Randall is much higher. Add in the near constant injuries for Ngata, and he would have been the one down the depth chart and contemplating a transfer if I had a vote. But, I don't, and I don't get to see practices, where he must be showing something we haven't seen in games yet on any consistent basis.

Ngata is so talented & I would be shocked if he doesn’t make it to the NFL. If he stays healthy this season he’s going to finish with a Cornell Powell type season.
Ngata will make the transition he should have made last year if healthy. This kid is a great WR with loads of potential, My opinion is he will be the biggest surprise if you think he’s not very good.
I’m a Ngata fan because I’ve seen what he is capable of doing. Dacari isn’t even close right now but with time he could develop to be pretty good but in my opinion he will never be the kind of talent Ngata is.
