The just shy of 21 year old cat hasn't really eaten in about 10 days and 3 days ago stopped even eating his treats. He can still make it to the litter box, but what happens when he has to poop is pretty dreadful. He is still as mobile as he was a few weeks ago when things were fine, but that is the only box unchecked. It is time to take him in. Sharkgirl has had this little fella all of her adult life and I grew rather fond of him over these past 9 years. He was old when I met him and has dodged the bullet a few times, I don't hold out hope for anymore big ideas. This sucks.

But sometimes you just gotta make the call.
We're getting close with our 15+ yr old shelter adopted lil yappie dog. She's almost blind and deaf, acts kinda wacky a lot, sleeps most all day and night. Now she's had diarrhea for about 24 hrs, pooped all over the house, but can't poop outside.

I hate reading posts like these and I also appreciate the love everyone has for animals. One thing I have noticed now being a middle aged man is how innocent we were when younger. We weren't seeing all of our animals falling off like flies. That 15 to 20 years makes a huge difference. Now they all die and I guess we start the process again possibly. It is so brutal though and something I wasn't prepared for at all, seeing my beloved pets die and seeing and hearing so many others go through it. I am so sorry you are going through this. When my car does about 5 years ago she purred until her last breath was gone as I slept with her. Cats are underrated.

Brother we lost our best friend/familymember, Sassafras, almost 10 years ago and have not been able to have another. She was a Greater Swiss that was loved by all. Maybe one day.
Thinking about y'all and hopefully your friend/family member has a peaceful passing.
