Long time reader, decided it’s finally time to join. Super excited for this fall for both Clemson football and deer season. I live in Texas, but we try to make it back to Clemson to one home game each year.

The only time I hunted TX was at a lodge owned by International Paper at Boggy Slough near Lufkin. Had a great time and got a nice buck. I got a really nice buck near Pacolet SC last year and another slightly smaller one the same day from the same stand 10 minutes apart. Pic of the mount of the larger one is attached to another response below. Got to hunt some along the Saluda River thanks to clover65® last year as well. Retired last year so now I can hunt during the week and watch football on three weekends without the two conflicting.

I took this one in 1974 on the Savannah River Plant, by far the biggest I ever killed. J.C.Higgins(Sears) double barrel. Uncle finished him off with a $1 card Barlow.

Since you could only give him one, I gave him the other. I am really getting excited for deer and football seasons as well. Recently finished the display for the larger buck I got last year. Pic attached.

Thanks. I saw a picture of one online and thought the same thing and said, “hey I can do that!” Fortunately it coincided with having a nice buck at the taxidermist. Now I’m going to build a bar table using 2 more barrels and a live edge wood slab to put next to it.

Since I retired last year I now have time to do that type of stuff, along with hunting and football. Problem is we keep downsizing houses and my man cave has gone from a full basement with pool and poker tables and wet bar to a bonus room over the garage. Had to sell my free standing bar to make room for the barrel and table. Guess that is how the phases of this life work.
