Sure, Clemson took a loss in Death Valley on Saturday. Is it the end of the world? No, and I would certainly hope that nobody else would think that. Is it the end of a Clemson dynasty? Absolutely not. Do fans have the right to be upset and raise legitimate questions about the health of the program? I render a resounding, yes.
Here's what pains me about the whole situation. Dabo has a roster with an embarrassment of riches. NFL players from top to bottom that will undoubtedly be playing on Sunday or Monday night. What I cannot figure out is why their play calling is so predictable, lacking creativity, and redundant.
Everyone wants to blame DJ, but I feel like the coaching staff has failed DJ. They have not called plays that align with his strengths. They have not created a condition to set up passing lanes or running lanes on offense. In turn, the Defense stays on the field trying to shut down the opposing offense and fatigue sets in. Whenever that happens, injuries occur. Whenever Clemson loses top talent on the field to injuries, they are forced to field a backup player with little to no experience. We all just watched that occur as Dabo was forced to field two 3rd String cornerbacks that got roasted all game.
Is it the offensive line? No! If they set the tone and make defenses defend the run and go over the top, it sets Clemson up nicely on offense. It allows them to sustain drives and give the defense a rest.
Should Dabo select players from the portal? Only Dabo knows that answer; we do not. Is it all DJ's fault that Clemson went 8-29 on pass plays. NO! Several dropped passes, in fact, the majority of the throws were to the receiver, and it resulted in incomplete pass due to the receiver dropping the pass or not making the play. Many of DJ's passes were on the money. The WR's need to fight for the ball in coverage and need to become more physical. If the team gets a penalty, then so be it, but never surrender ground to the opposing team.
Is the play calling predictable? Yes! This needs to change. Run, run, screen pass, punt does not win games. I'm sure that all of these questions will be answered in the upcoming post season. Dabo has seldom been wrong about the condition of the program or making decisions for the program. I trust that he will fix these issues.

Maybe Briningstool, Mays, Miller, Parks, Randall, Klubnik depending on development. But it is a problem that our potential offensive NFL talent players are young.

Your post is generally accurate but for one point. DJ threw a lot of bad passes that were no where near the receiver. Also, I do not know if you were in the stadium, but he also missed alot of open receivers and threw instead to someone in coverage.

And despite the obvious - he’s left in and the better passer rides the bench. I don’t blame DJ, he doesn’t make the call. “Ego and stubbornness” above winning is one main issue.

Think about the quarterbacks that have beaten us the last few years. Almost all of them from the portal. Burrow, Rattler, Daniels.

of recruiting a player from another team up front. Dabo's not going to do that, nor should he. Are there good players that we can get through the portal? I believe so. We need to utilize the portal where it makes sense. Likewise we need to be realistic with our player assessments and improve whenever possible!
