Grad transfer or not...
May 6, 2019, 2:49 PM

I'm becoming increasingly surprised by how much college basketball players transfer.
With that said, Glad we have someone coming that seems to be a solid scorer and 3 point shooter.
Welcome Curan!!

Saw that his freshman year he played for Charlotte and he shot 43% from 3pt range.

Surprised that you are ‘surprised’....the transfer rules leveled the college athletics between coaches and players, somewhat. Assuming kids are true students and graduate. And even for underclassmen, no restrictions can be placed on where you go.
I think it’s great! Coaches leave to get paid (or fired), players leave for playing time (or move up in competition).

Glad that Scott can play right away.
Curran, we're glad you're going to be a Tiger.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the kid from Fordham have to sit out a year?

Instant gratification isnt real world and no everyone doesn't get a trophy! Terrible lessons being created and standardized when that isnt the real world. Kids jumping school to school is due to selfishness and lack of commitment when they didnt get a trophy this week for warming the bench! But yeah, it isnt great, teach commitment as part of being responsible!

I'm not sure if anyone else can make it up to 25%...maybe Dawes? IDK much on his shot.

Sims took about 4 a game and hit 33% but I actually watched

us play, so I wouldn't expect you to know that "coach"...Trap also finished above 30% and he will be a starter too, so that will be at least 3, possibly 4 starters shooting better than 30% and that doesn't include Dawes dumba$$...But keep "supporting" our Tigers "coach"

But 30% isnt really good

we were near the bottom of the league in 3 pt percentage. If we're going to try to play positionless basketball, which appears to be the case right now, really need to be 37-40% for that to work. Right now we're set up to play like VT last year, where you dont have a real low post player, but we have to shoot it much better for that to work

We NEED players who are good at the 3-pointer ...
May 6, 2019, 3:27 PM
|
|
And this guy is. Now, that other guy already on the team, Tyson ... he was getting good at the 3 pointer towards the end ... maybe we will actually be GOOD at 3 pointers next year.
Who's our center (aka "the 5") again ?

Maybe Jemison? He is our only real option unless we go with a skinny Baehre at times. Baehre would be out of position though.

Baehre played in an insanely guard-happy trigger shooting UNCA so him running as the only big works better than expected. Sure, I want more depth but if you need a big that can play a small-fast lineup, he is exactly the type you want. Add in another big and he can become a serviceable stretch player. Doesn't take a lot of 3s but can hit at about 37%... but is mostly fed by the boards.

Pretty decent grad transfer...
May 6, 2019, 4:08 PM

We still need one more player next season- a bigman since we only have three players coming back who are 6-8 or taller and can play some in the post. Especially if we have a key injury down low.

Really hard to like your team in college basketball anymore. This will be his 3rd school already? How are you even supposed to get to know these kids? Now get off my lawn!

Maybe a head coach change, then he graduated and wanted to step up?
Here are the 49ers recent Charlotte Head Coaches - Coach Tenure Record:
Ron Sanchez 2018-Pres 8-21
Houston Fancher (int.) 2017-18 3-17
Mark Price 2015-17 31-43
Ryan Odom (int.) 2015 8-11
Alan Major 2010-15 67-70
Thinking he got out of a bad situation (Tulsa made the tournament in 2014 & 2016) and is now trying to better himself.

75% of the players on our roster came to us from high school

The other 25% were transfers. All had to be recruited by our coaching staff.
