with guyes like Wiggins, Lucas. Pride, Brown, Barnes....why is Hamp Greene returning punts? As I said I know we have much bigger issues I'm just wondering...

Truthfully we don’t return punts. We catch them sometimes. With such a putrid offense you would think we would try and get a big return to gain field position. But like you said. Tons of problems.

It’s been our philosophy for years. Which made sense when we had good offense, no use risking a turnover.
But now with our anemic offense it might be worth ja shot to be more aggressive on punt return

I didn't know that. Sigh. Do any of Dabo's friends kids ever not end up seeing the field? It seems like they all get worked in somewhere which is pretty suspect especially for a position like this that would really benefit from using a dynamic athlete.

For the same reason we have Mafah (who is actually a better RB than Shipley) returning kickoffs after Shipley went down. Not that we get to return many. But can we not show some ingenuity and a different wrinkle at that point in the game instead of just subbing in another RB on the return. Put the fastest player on the team back there and see what happens, fake a reverse, do something. On that last punt before the last drive (which was a disaster) there was no better time to set up a punt return to shorten the field, but NO another fair catch. We are the most conservative and poorest coached team in college football.

yesterday. We tried Tyler Brown earlier this year and he fumbled. DBs don't return kicks because they don't have great hands. If they did they would be receivers. You have to catch the punt cleanly before you can return it.

We had several good DB punt returners under Ford who fielded the ball just fine. Just sayin'.

Dabo has always had a conservative approach to special teams. I wish we would go after blocks more too. Loved the Ford days when we always had great returners.
Dabo wins at such a high rate (until this year) that it is tough to criticize it but to me it does seem like a huge advantage that is not on the table for us.
