I think Dabo is at a fork in the road and is going to have to make a decision. What is he going to do about the QB situation? To quote someone else on this board "DJ is a really bad QB. He can make all of the throws, but his decision making, pocket presence, and read progression are about as bad as I've seen. " I agree and if you did an honest assessment of his skill set you'd have to agree too. So, what about Cade? I don't think we'll be able to keep him. In about 3 games he'll be faced with what he wants for his future. If DJ is coming back and Cade is the backup, he will have thrown away a two years of eligibility. There are too many other teams that would be glad to have him. I wouldn't blame him a bit to take the opportunity. So, Dabo can either choose to go with DJ and continue the downward spiral, or go with the kid that has the skills to do what is needed if given the chance. Disagree with me if you want, but that's how I feel.

not dismissing DJ as a piece of the struggles, but our coaches and other talent on offense are the MAIN culprits to our struggles and downward trajectory.
prime example:
Shipley is THE BEST offensive player on our team in 2022......by a fairly wide margin
Shipley would be AT BEST 4th......likely 5th/6th best player on our 2015-2018 offenses.

Agree. I'm just thinking it will be hard to recruit 5 star QB's if we let them ride the bench behind someone who is inferior.

I am not going to jump on you one bit.I totally agree.
I think Dabo needs to pull the reigns in on DJ starting with Monday's( or whatever day) practice.
Obviously he needs to make the move by being straight forward and up front with DJ and then informing Cade he has the starting job for the next 3 ,4,or 5 games.
If Cade then fails you have to look at going after another quarterback because both will probably transfer out.

Cade has not been given a chance yet. He was put in a bad situation last night. On the interception, Ngata has an obligation to attack the ball and prevent the interception.
But I'm not talking to a dude with no pulse. Cade is our future and he will be OUTSTANDING!

Cade will be fine. Dang how many snaps are we judging him on.
Let him take a game and get some experience.
I know we still have things to accomplish but I’m ready to turn the page with this offense.
I’m sure we have plays in the book that DJ with his lack of mobility can’t be called.

Why do you say we have a "QB situation"? Cade has played a few plays, has less than a 48% completion rate and is just learning. The fork in the road is celebrating the Championships and all the great players of the Deshaun and Trevor years but realizing we may never have QB's like that again.

opportunities that DW4 and TL16 got from Dabo. Im ready to move on from DJ and go with Cade. If we lose at least cade gets some meaningful experience.

Cade hasn’t shown anything more than a young Hunter Johnson or any other highly ranked backup we’ve had. No one has watched him play this year and thought we had the next DW or TL riding the pine.
Cade could start for maybe 10-15 FBS teams right now
