Give Credit to Boulware

Great players make unbelievable plays at key moments of the game. Look at Boulware on the Notre Dame final two point conversion attempt below.
https://vine.co/v/e2K1lWtPUnw
It is him vs. a blocker and he just totally blows him up, messing up Kizer along the way. Without that, Kizer has a legit chance to score. It is great to have a tough nasty old school linebacker like Boulware. #Props

He is really, really good against the run. His lack of foot speed allowed ND to exploit him by isolating him on some crossing routes. I'm not sure if anyone else we play during regular season, with the possible exception of FSU, can hurt us with that.

8/10 on the somersault after that

Would've been 10/10 if he didn't do it in front of the referee, thus getting a 15 yard penalty on the onside kick. That would've made ND recovering the kick even more disastrous.

Also gotta look at #94, Carlos Watkins, on that play. Center and right guard engaged him and he just moved down the line of scrimmage and didn't budge when he hit Kizer as well.

I'm convinced that he made this stop happen. I mean he literally just blew up that fullback and in the process blew up the whole play

Don't sleep on Dodd
Oct 5, 2015, 12:55 AM
|
|
It starts with Dodd setting the edge and forcing the play back to the inside. If that doesn't happen Kizer makes it to the outside behind two blocking receivers.
Then there's Watkins who takes two ND lineman with him to Kizer, gets off of the block, splits the two lineman to hit Kizer.
Boulware just embarrasses Prosis and blocks him right back into the play giving Kizer nowhere to go.
This defense is NASTY!
Go Tigers!!

Not taking anything away from Boulware or Dodd on that play, but Watkins took the double team and pushed them into the backfield to blow that play up. Great effort.

It didn't really affect the play, but Goodson knocked the right guard flat on his butt.
Remember to always be yourself... unless you can be Ben Boulware, then always be Ben Boulware.

Kevin Dodd setting the Edge and Carlos Watkins taking up 2 Blockers are the stars of that play.
Boulware came in with bad intentions but without the other 2 he wouldn't have been in that position.

Not sure what #68 was thinking there--looked like he thought he was going to play paddy-cake with BJ and got absolutely drilled...
Great play by BJ, but that was an embarrassing effort by a guy that is listed as 6' 7.5" and 310 lbs, lol....
