Walt said money doesn't matter

Was listening to yesterday's broadcast on Comcast and Walt basically said money doesn't help you win championships. He sites Texas and Texas A & M as examples of rich schools that money didn't help.
I disagree. While yes money doesn't guarantee you win, the lack of money sure does hurt your chances. And the revenue gap wasn't nearly as big as it's projected to get. That's why all these DAs are freaking out.
I like Walt but he sure isn't right about this.

Teams just recently started openly buying players from high school and other college football teams' rosters. And nobody is doing anything to stop it.

My banker said to me many years ago, “Money is not important, but a lack of money? Now that’s important. “

Money doesn't guarantee you WIN championships (WALT).
To your point, the absence of it makes it really hard.
He should absolutely share that logic with Nick Saban, and Alabama though. Because they're under the mistaken impression that it takes $$$ to compete at the highest level (idiots). Dabo, and Kirby too.
Of course, I think Walt meant to articulate was that all the $$$ in the world won't help if you have the wrong LEADERSHIP.
MONEY matters just as much as LEADERSHIP. Nobody is winning a NC without both.

We need to at least be in the ballpark of the money the coots and others are going to get, and it doesn't look like that will happen.

You said it. We need to be in the same neighborhood. If we stay in the ACC we won't be.
I've never been remotely concerned that we'd get left behind; I'm even less so today.
A few years back an Attorney friend said that the GOR would be hard to get out of, but nothing was ironclad. Eventually, Clemson and a few other schools would challenge it, there would be lawsuits, but the top ACC programs would get out. Once 8 teams vote to dissolve the ACC, it's done.
That's where we are. Clemson, FSU, etc....are bound for the SEC, or BIG. The only question is which other 6 schools are also leaving, when, and who ends up where?
We will be fine.
(p.s. Jim Phillips gas-lighting everybody about how great things are makes me want to vomit. He sounds like a STUPID politician. The ACC deserves to die a painful death for being increadibly dumb)

It matters more than ever in this NIL era. When the SEC/BIG is feeding your athletic budget the lion’s portion, the school is less dependent on athletic booster clubs(like Iptay). Thus, avid boosters can divert funds directly to “collectives”, and make no mistake pay for play is for real.

Is that a local guy in SC? He sounds like an idiot, no offense. True both Texas schools are a work in progress, but Alabama and Georgia have been doing this for years illegally

Than the sec and big teams. Talk about an utterly stupid comment by Walt. But thats his forte, so not overly surprised.
