ND’s 12 wins are as good as anyone’s 12 wins....

Who cares if we, Georgia, Alabama, or whoever has a 13th win that is Furman, Citadel, Chattanooga, or some other FCS team.
ND doesn’t schedule FCS teams. The closest thing to it would Ball State, which is equivalent to Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, or whoever.
Stay humble. We will need to play our best game of the year to beat them, if we get the chance to play them.
GO TIGERS!

Stanford every year. They rotate a Big 10 team on and off and play a couple of lesser teams that don't expect a return home game from ND. That is where the FCS teams come in the southeast. Many of the southern FCS teams could beat a Ball St. or most of those other MAC teams that ND schedules.

Get real, a “southern FCS” team isn’t beating a MAC team. A sunbelt team is more equivellant to a MAC team. Even then, I’m talking about the likes of Troy or the top teams in that conference. FCS is so low from a talent, coaching, money, size, and facilities, it really can’t be overstated. FCS teams don’t belong on P5 schedule, escoecially ones who’d like to bid for a playoff spot.

Troy has won against LSU. Is it safe to assume that you think LSU might beat a MAC team?

I have a tendency to agree with this.
P5 teams should not be allowed to schedule FCS teams (or they should at least not be credited for those FCS wins when discussing rankings, playoff, etc.).

Lol. Fcs teams aren’t beating MAC teams. Maybe every once in a while, but even MAC teams are far superior to FCS schools.

against P5 schools, and do the same for the better FCS conferences.
Shoot, the last time we played Central Michigan we scored 70 points. We are 4-0 against MAC teams, none of them close games.

Heal and prepare since they are ND. Plus conference championship games can only knock you out like wisconsin and not put you in so dont play in one if you can help it

If anyone deserves to be treated special it’s ND. And maybe Bama. Other teams should just be glad for the honor of being on the same field as them.
If it weren’t for ND and Alabama, America wouldn’t even have the great game of football. So everybody else needs to just shut up and sit down.

You Are Kidding Right....Our Extra Game Will Be ACCCG

Normally, that is a Top 20 opponent. Still the wear and tear of that game, plus the additional week of planning required by the staff instead of preparing for playoffs is an ENORMOUS disadvantage.
ND is an entitled, selfish program that somehow believes that they just get a free pass. By design they have CHOSEN to not play a Championship Game. It would be the same as two students going for Valedictorian and one of them getting to skip a 400 or 500 level course.

Especially if they beat OSU and win their conference championship by a good margin. The committee values conference champions other than Alabama
There would be a certain poetic justice to Alabama having to play them. Would make for great TV ratings too.

Wait, we're playing an FCS school the first week in Dec ?
Nov 18, 2018, 4:26 PM

If all at least 4 conference Champs finish 12-1, ND has no place in the playoff.
Don't think the PAC12,BIG12 or BIG10 play FCS schools either ????
The BIG 12 was left out in 2014 because of not having that 13th game.
need more ?

Maybe, when our 13 includes Furman. They played 12 FBS teams, after Pitt (who they beat) we will have played 12 FBS teams.
Just seeing lots of hate on here for what is proving to be a #### good football team (in ND).
We will beat them, but it will take our best game. We will beat Bama by 10 or more.

Ha!
Maybe I should, I really do think the SEC (Bama included) is way overhyped. I’m not sure Bama has been tested this year.
Both ND and Clemson have been tested and (I hope) that experience, in the cauldron of pressure, will count for something when everything is on the line.

Notre Dame is a good team just saying no matter if you play a an FCS or not that extra game is tough. Mike Williams injures versus a cup cake team so that shows the danger or rather advantage the Domers have with one less game...

We say for every opponent that it will take our best game. Nothing wrong with that attitude even if it isn't the truth.

ND or Bama or any other school should NOT be allowed to skip playing game 13 against a tough opponent for their conference championship. If a team wants to be eligible for the CFP, then they should be in some conference and have to win that conference. PERIOD. It will never be a level playing field as long as teams like Bama and ND are allowed to rest and heal their players, or not have new injuries due to them not having to play that extra game. I'm not sure why the entire football universe can possibly think that is fair.
Here is a plan if you want to keep letting those teams be in the CFP, but not play a CC game.
Make the decision for the CFP participants based on the REGULAR SEASON, and if a team is selected that is scheduled to play in their CC game, then they too can bypass that game and are automatically crowned conference champion. Make it fair, so change the dang rules. I hate stupid.
