James' little brother played great against every defense last year except (CU , UF and Mizzou) and they have a decent OL. They are top 20 material maybe ...but top 10 ? That is based on recent history , which as you know their fanbase and HBC do not recognize as valid.

Davis is a really good back when healthy, but he always has some nagging injury. Heard he was already nursing a sore hamstring at the start of camp. Haven't heard any updates on that lately, but that's something that can often take a while to heal and can keep popping up.
As for their O-line. It may be good but I'm a bit suspect after watching some of their replays from last year. Connor Shaw's mobility saved them countless times and often kept teams from blitzing. They won't have that luxury this year and teams will be able to pin their ears back and rush the QB.
They have some big TEs that will give you matchup problems, but can you name one WR they have that concerns you? Shaq Roland is the only one with potential, but he's been inconsistent so far.
Besides UCLA, SC is perhaps the most overrated team in the top 25. At best, they should be ranked in the top 15, but around 18-20 would be more appropriate.

You forgot the part in the middle when the coots lose to Tennessee and want to fire Steve on the spot. Then the part where the rest of the SEC starts melting down around them giving them more praise than they deserve, to finish the season with made-up accomplishments achieved.

Wyff4 reporting that mike Davis is out for the opener with an injury. Lol. What are the odds of both schools announcing starting backs are out on same day? SOS says Brandon wilds ready to go. Lol. Those others are good but none are acc/sec starters.

Their oline is suspect bc you watched some film from last year? Makes sense..... Clemson has probably the best d since the NC team but using your logic that's not the case if you watched a few games from last year.

I'm not trying to claim I'm an expert with inside knowledge or anything....I'm just offering my opinion based on my personal observations as a fan of CFB. I think it's safe to say that everyone on this board is doing the same. Other than film from last years games, what is there to use? Pre-season magazines and the talking heads on ESPN?
And since you mentioned our defense...Im a bit suspect of it as well ....Sure, the talent is there and we showed flashes of potential last year, but we also continued to struggle in areas that have plagued us for years---poor discipline, missed tackles, missed assignments and blown coverages. Until we improve in those areas we will not live up to the hype we've been getting all off season and will continue to be an average defense.
I'll believe we are good when I see it on the field.

That's how I feel about SCs offense. Sure we could be good, but top 10 along with Auburn, FSU, Ore, Baylor, etc? Not sure I'm buying it, I 'll believe it when I see it. I think SCs offense won't be as good as many think, but defense won't be as bad as some think. CUs defense won't be as good as many think, but offense won't be as bad as some say

Legitimate question, straightforward answer. We bring back an experienced and deep offensive line, even with the loss of Matullis. Davis and Wilds are proven backs, one a second team all SEC, and some good depth there with Carson and Williams. Two NFL tight ends. While our recovers aren't al speed guys, Roland, Cooper, Jones are very good and Byrd brings the speed. Thompson is more than capable at QB and has had the entire summer and fall to get reps he did not get last year. That's a very impressive offense by any standard.
They will be very very good on offense. Defense, we'll have to see.

It's weird how the strength of our teams seems to have switched (or at least it looks that way). We are looking better on D then you guys this year and it appears your offense will be better than ours. I guess we will find out soon enough!

Agreed should be good, really not sold on the TE. They have proven to be one dimensional. Wr seems to be were they lack the most talent and I don't see Thompson finishing the season. Have watched him alot and he lacks talent to be great. Good system qb though.

The loss of Shaw is going to hurt more than any Coot fan can fathom. Thompson will not require the spy that Shaw demanded and teams will be able to play him straight up. The third downs that Shaw was able to get regularly because he kept the D honest now become the third downs that that a stationary Thompson will have to throw for against a blitz package. We'll see how he does. I'm skeptical. (See Mizzou game)And while the O line certainly should be good, it is not deep. I won't even get into the defense. Not enough characters

Not to quibble, but Thompson will do fine on 3rd down. He is much more effective with the tight ends than Shaw. Different skill sets for sure, but he is going to surprise you. Oline is very deep, not sure why you think otherwise. Defense is certainly be a work in progress, but there is a lot of talent on the front 7; real issue are the corners. We will give up some points for sure, but we are not as porous as some of you may think.

Thompson had a great game in Clemson in 2012 , no doubt. Aside from that performance he has looked incredibly average. He has had to be yanked from a couple games for under performing and I don't buy that Otis isn't just giving him the short rope while he gets more practice reps for some other kid. I have seen his body of work as a starter , and nothing about what I have seen makes me think that Coots shouldn't be at least a little worried .

run for 20 yds on 3rd and 19. Ugh, that play still gives me the runs.
But I do think Shaw's leadership and Ellington's clutch playmaking will be missed. Also, the coot OL is good for running the ball, but speed pass rushers make them look like they're wearing concrete shoes. That doesn't mix well with a drop back passer.
I'm not sold on usuc being top 10. I see 3 or 4 losses likely for them.

My one gripe with Shaw, and given the effort he gave us it's hard to gripe about him, is he underutilized the tight ends. He really underutilized the middle of the field as a whole. I suspect his height had alot to do with it. I think Dylan will throw more balls their way. Anderson is very good but Jerrel Adams is where the real potential is. He is a freak athlete.

Freak athlete ? I couldn't tell you his name , or the other guys name honestly , before you posted them. No distinction in my book is when an avid football fan of your chief rival has no idea who your " freak athlete" TE's are. There is Davis on that offense ...and Spurrier is praying to the Gator Gods that he can squeeze some production out of the rest of a whole plethora of average.

If he is denying Adams' athleticism due to him not knowing about him he is wrong. If Adams was utilized correctly last year alot more people would know about him.

I recall a third and 19. Dudes got wheels. I'm gonna ask for some pay reductions if usuc has a better offense than us. But I don't think there's much behind Dylan this year so they are very thin at qb depth.

I am no expert, but a celebrated OL, great RB corps, nice TE's and a coach that is a renowned play caller tells me they will be above average, what am I missing here, they have great RB's, always produce productive WR's, the OL is solid...etc etc, yeah the SC offense will be solid.

If you say otherwise you are not being real, it will be a solid offense no doubt, Davis is a stud RB, the OL at SC is better than solid, great TE's, always good WR's and Thompson at QB has already shown Tiger nation he is capable,
