Urban Meyer to Georgia Tech next year?
Dec 17, 2021, 11:52 AM
|

I can’t think of any rest big jobs that will be open after next year. Georgia Tech could be.
His daughter played volleyball at GT and she is married to a former GT football player. Meyer actually came to Clemson to watch her play in jervey when GT came to down when he was on his sabbatical from coaching.
Meyer to the ATL could make sense.

I think he would win there but I would be surprised

if he viewed that job as good enough for him.
It sounds like he needs to take some time and work on himself before he takes another job, although I don’t think he has the ability to self-reflect enough to do that.

IDK, South Carolina likely has McEwlain, Mullen and now Meyer on their speed dial options (replacing Police, Fire and EMS).
Oh, wait. You said biggest jobs, nevermind. Although for many coaches, south carolina would appear to be the "biggest" job... of a sort.

no one can win at GT unless they start offering other majors

that expand their recruiting pool. It's a dead end. Unless you're defining winning as maxing out at 7-9 a season and that's not winning to Urban.

Because they’ve won a national championship in my lifetime.
Plus- like Dabo said, unless something changes, the academic part of things is becoming less and less important in college football. Lots of potential NIL money in the ATL.

IMO Urban should hang it up as a coach. After his embarrassing performance as the Jaguar’s HC he needs to accept his coaching career is over! But his Ego is so big it may get in the way of reasonable thinking.

I could see something stupid like South Carolina hiring him to do something.

I don’t think college programs would hold his NFL stint against him.

It will just be chalked up as another great college coach who wasn’t a good fit for the NFL.
He’s too much of a winner at the college level for plenty of programs not to want him.

He’ll go into hiding for a couple of years and then take either the USC, LSU or ND job when one of their coaches leave.

a job that is "worthy" of his talents. You know, drilling for oil on coeds, kicking kickers while they are down, calling all his coaches Losers, things like that.
