UNC's decision to Go For 2 down by 11 points with 07:00 to go

What was up with that? Setting aside the fact that it appeared Maye would've walked in if he gets the snap off on time, even if they get into the EZ, they cut the lead to 9 - still 2 scores. Not only that, they waste a Time Out with the clock stopped. In a 2 score game, very significant. Just take the Delay Of Game and kick the XTRA PT. Even still, after burning the TO, they still decide to go for 2. FANTASTIC defensive play by Mukumba btw

That made no sense at all. Thought TNetters called the play

They had a bunch of old guys looking at a book so I’m guessing it was the analytics in going for it. They all looked at each other and nodded.

They wanted to eventually win in regulation, not tie.

Not getting it means they would need to go for two to tie. But they were already planning on going for two if they got another TD.

We can all agree If they take the extra point like most coaches would, they can tie the game with a TD and a field goal and take it to OT. Brown apparently decided he wanted to avoid OT if possible.
With or without the extra point, he can still win with 2 more TDs.
If he gets the 2, they're down by 9 and he can play for a win with a TD and field goal.
If he doesn't get 2, they're down by 11 and he still has an opportunity to play for OT with a TD, 2 point conversion, and field goal.

Yeah, but wasting a timeout was the bigger issue.

I think the thought there is if you cut it to 9, you can win with a field goal if you score another td. If you don’t get the two points, it’s still a 2 score game regardless.
It worked out for us either way but I believe that was their thought process
