What happened to Seth Beer?

Two years ago he was unstoppable. He’s tailed off since then, and honestly, he’s kinda sucked all season. Yeah he’s got a homer here and there, but his hitting resembles nothing of what it used to be.

How many scoks do y’all have? Have you guys not noticed you do everything that you accuse us of doing and you don’t cover it up well at all. You guys have multiple accounts to bash AND follow people to give thumbs up to make that person look like they are the ones with multiple scoks. It’s hilarious.

No no no and no. Jolly and Wharton are hitting just like they always have. Greene is hot right now but give it time and he’ll be down to .260 like the rest. Wilkie is a true sophomore lol so he hasn’t even been there long enough to measure his improvement

You’re telling me Drew Wharton has been at this level since he was a freshman with Leggett? I’ll concede with Wilkey since he’s still young but Whart and Jolly have definitely improved and Greene has as well

but Jolly hit .351 as a FR and is now at .267, and Wharton is hitting .235. Even if he has improved .235 is nothing to brag about. To me there hasn't been any significant improvement that warrants this staff being above reproach.

Greene for now. Wharton is hitting .235. If that’s the improvement were gonna get out of players we’re in trouble. Jolly is hitting .267. Jolly showed flashes early in his career. He hasn’t improved a ton. He just has more experience. I say under monte but I don’t blame monte. It’s the asst coaches no doubt about it. Prob lecroy instead of starbuck the more I think about it, and having taken in others opinions. He’s the last part of the leggett era

And the funny part is while Greene’s the 1 player who has improved, he’s also the 1 player coach kept off the field for almost half a regular season.

He’s on a 9 game hitting streak. Been bashing balls left and right. Been walking too. National pow last week. He’s actually come out of a mini slump by his own admission but it’s not beer, it’s his surrounding cast that’s not consistent. Williams is between his ears... he’s never swung at balls in the dirt. It’s baseball, it happens.
It’s just we’re inconsistent up and down. They’ll figure it out and be a hot team.

He's not a .350 guy hitting 20HRs anymore. It is what it is. But our best guys need to be hitting .320 or we need everyone to hit around .280. Not enough consistency in the order right now.

As for Monte, he’s changing philosophy of what clemson baseball used to be. He’s going after athletic speed that can play versatile baseball. Small ball, defense and pitching. We’d get to regionals and Omaha with mashers and out scoring teams but we never had the winning pitching. We’d go against good pitching and defenses and wouldn’t be able to score.
Just like with Dabo, think it’ll take time but will build for sustainable runs. We’re young and transitioning... it’s painful at times. Not a fair statement that nobody has gotten better under Monte. Pitching is making huge strides.

I just don't understand...when you have an all-world hitter come in batting over .360 his freshman year, why on earth would you want to coach that out of him?

Not what I’m saying. Not saying he’s trying to coach that out of him. That would be stupid. Beer is trying to hit the opposite field more so teams can take the shift off. Let’s see where he ends the year and if he comes back.

This is nothing small ball about this team. Most outs are popups and strikeouts. Even when we win we leave tons of guys on base due to inability to get'em over and get'em in. I hate to see Logan Davidson hit HR's, because I know what's going to come after that. Guys (outside of Jolly ) do not seem to know their roles.
Good pitchers (regional time.see Vanderbilt last year) will easily exploit our all or nothing swings. A good hitting coach is needed and I firmly believe Monte will make that move before next season.

Beer has a great swing with amazing bat speed. He loves to hit home runs. Good pitchers will not give him pitches to Pull to right field. I posted many months ago that Beer would hit home runs in college because college pitchers make mistakes. As he progresses, pitchers will not throw him balls he can pull. He is a free swinger and that hurts him a bit. Notice how many first pitches he swing at. Hopefully he will learn to concentrate on hitting pitches in the inner half of the plate. He is such a good hitter he could put up big numbers if he would hit the ball to the opposite field. The shift is there for him to exploit!

other teams take pitches. more than Clemson. Our batters seems like they do not won't a walk, then will swing at a pitch in dirt for strike out. will not choke up on bat with two strike on them.never had a year with bases loaded, 2nd and third with no outs and cannot score. hope that will be taken care of. love my tigers!

If players go ice cold then it's a cold streak and it's okay, they're amazing anyways. If a player gets hot then it's not a hot streak, they're just that amazing. That's how it works here.
I'm fine w/ Beer hitting .280 with 15HRs this year. We just need everyone else to step up big time around him.

Clemson coaches, collegiate baseball sports writers, and MLB scouts all know less about baseball than PSJohnson, DK, CT12 and their assorted scoks and syncophants. I wouldn’t worry about Beer. He won’t be here next year because, no matter how much you think he sucks, he could go the rest of the year without swinging the bat and still be a first round draft pick. Most likely a top 5 pick.
