Oh Well tough titty said the kitty when the milk ran dry I wonder how many of them are alumni or have been following the team for more than 10 years probably not the majority of them if they want to be win it all costs there's plenty of programs out there that share that view. They can leave Clemson alone though and our Coach

Same crap, different season. Hiring a former player and the son of a friend. Dabo isn't going anywhere because he can do whatever he wants at Clemson. He'll ride this ship until it sinks. He firmly believes he can stay at the top without adapting and that is scary. He'll continue to flip the narrative to support his beliefs and morals. Unfortunately for the real fans who remember the days of West and Bowden, we have to sit back and watch it all over again. Freaking sucks TBH.

And that's the problem right there. Too many soft fans today satisfied with 8 and 9 win seasons. It's a tough business buddy but it's reality. Dabo is a great person, one of the best. Unfortunately for him his primary responsibility is to win on Saturday and maintain dominance at least within the conference. He'll have to adapt to the new landscape and adapt quickly to achieve that. Hopefully Clemson will join the SEC or Big Ten. That would force him to put his personal agenda on the back burner in order to stay competitive in those conferences.

You certainly have a right to this opinion and I’m sure it’s popular. But I completely disagree. His primary responsibility is to create and sustain a football program of excellence that builds men into leaders on and off the field. Usually that translates into winning games, which we enjoy, but it ALWAYS translates into winning in life, which is what Clemson University is about. Look at all the coaches who have sold their souls to NIL and the transfer portal. That system is about to collapsed!

Let's end it with this quote from the "GOAT" of college football. "It's one one thing to achieve success. It's another to maintain it". Obviously coming from him that includes dominance on the field. Let me ask you a question. Do you think Dabo would have gotten the contract extensions and a top 5 salary with 3 conference titles and no natty?

Compare Dabo to any College Head Coach over the last 10 or 15 years and only Saban (GOAT) is better. I’ve been a Clemson fan since Coach Howard, which makes me sick to hear fair weather fans complain about Dabo! Dabo is the best coach ever at Clemson, and we will be lucky to have him until he retires. Plus any idiot can see he hires and fires plenty of the best available coaches, along with Clemson people and friends.
Go Tigers, Beat Georgia.

What is your point? There is zero chance you have been a Clemson fan more than a week. Pick a metric...Dabo is now the leader. The GOAT you quoted did it with top 3 recruiting classes for the last 17 years. He shouldve won more, he was playing with 4 aces for 17 years and only won 6 and shouldnt been invited to one of those. We kicked their ##### last time we played...who would you rather have ? I will wait...name 3 people that you would prefer to coach this team? I would love to throw more downfield, I would love to go 15-0 but there are 130 programs out there that would kill to have our 14 year track record

When my parents retired to Seneca their Newcomers group went to an event at Clemson. They got a tour of the football facility and Tommy Bowden spoke. He talked about all the great things happening at Clemson and bragged a bit about the graduation rate. But he also shared that it doesn't matter how many players graduate if he doesn't win games.
I like Dabo and I think/hope he will evolve with the new landscape (which is still changing - no one knows for sure what the winning formula will be) and keep the Tigers firmly in the hunt while continuing to care about his students as people and men. But make no mistake - Clemson isn't University of Chicago or the Ivy League. Winning matters. Dabo has earned and deserves time to have a couple of down seasons. I don't think anyone is satisfied with 8 and 9 win seasons but don't over-react. We just had our first 9 win season in a looooong time. And there were MANY years before Dabo when a 9 win season would have felt amazing. Enjoy the ride.

I have been a fan since the mid 70’s. I hate to disagree with you. But, stats and facts show strong evidence that colleges care more about wins than anything. I cite Ken Hatfield: a terrible coach who was a great builder of men and character. He didn’t last long because he couldn’t win. Tommy Bowden developed great men. He didn’t last too long. I can insert any number of great men who developed great young men who didn’t last as head coaches very long.

Food for thought for those fans who bash him every time we lose a game.

The level of stupidity about this on this site is astounding. This is how coaching works. Every staff in the country brings in former players as GAs and analysts. Most even have position coaches that graduated from the school. Check Alabama and Georgia’s staff. Several graduates on both staffs

Because I do remember the West and Bowden days, I can resolutely say that your sentiments are incorrect. You remember the West days, do you? You remember the season before he was hired? You remember 57-0 at FSU? How about 48-0 in 1998? Do you remember how many games Clemson won that year? It was 3. Do you remember when Clemson had a chance to win the ACC for the first time in 9 years in 2000. All they had to do was beast FSU. Clemson lost 54-7.
Tired of Florida State? Let’s move along. Do you remember 45-0 at UNC in 1996? Season opener too. Yikes. Do you remember 38-3 in 2001 when I think Clemson might have had 72 yards of offense. I think that was Homecoming too. Again, yikes. What about Georgia? Do you remember getting obliterated by them 40-14 in 1994? What about that 30-0 beat down in 2003? And, let’s not forget that powerhouse known as Wake Forest. Remember that lovely 45-17 day in 2003?
Do you know what Clemson’s overall record was in the West Era*? 5 seasons Overall Record: 31-29 ACC Record: 21-19 Bowl Record: 1-3. AP Final Ranking: 23 (1993) NR (1994-98) Conference Titles: 0 National Title Game Appearances: 0 National Titles: 0 Undefeated Seasons (Regular or Overall): 0
*West only coached 1 game in 1993. Victory over Kentucky 14-13 in Peach Bowl.
What about Tommy Bowden Era*? Remember that one? 9.5 seasons Overall Record: 72-45 ACC Record: 43-32 Bowl Record: 3-5 AP Final Ranking: 16 (2000) 22 (2003) 21 (2005) 21 (2007) NR (1999, 2001-2002, 2004, 2006, 2008) Conference Titles: 0 National Title Game Appearances: 0 National Titles: 0 Undefeated Seasons (Regular or Overall): 0
*Coach Bowden resigned after 6 games in 2008 Season
Now, let’s look at Dabo Swinney. 15.5 seasons Overall Record: 170-43 ACC Record: 103-23 (ACC Regular Season) 8-1 (ACC Post-Season) Bowl Record: 10-6 AP Final Ranking: 24 (2009) 22 (2011) 11 (2012) 8 (2013) 15 (2014) 2 (2015, AP National Runner-Up) 1 (2016, AP National Champion) 4 (2017) 1 (2018, AP National Champion) 2 (2019, AP National Runner-Up) 3 (2020) 14 (2021) 13 (2022) 20 (2023) NR (2008, 2010) Conference Titles: 8 (2011, 2015-2020, 2022) CFP Appearances: 6 (2015-2020) CFP Record: 6-4 National Titles Appearances: 4 (2015-16, 2018-19) National Titles: 2 (2016, 2018) Undefeated Seasons (Regular or Overall): 3 (2015, 2019, Regular Season) (2018, Overall)
Oh, who is Clemson’s football all time coaching wins leader? Hmm . . . Dabo Swinney. Tommy West and Tommy Bowden? They are not. BTW, neither is Danny Ford. Shoot, even Frank Howard isn’t anymore. You know, both those guys were pretty good.
So, as you can see, to suggest what you have is most absurd. Dabo will have a statue outside Memorial Stadium just like Bowden and Saban have outside FSU’s and Alabama’s.

This situation is different than what people criticize Dabo for. Eason is a proven Coach and recruiter. Hiring a former player to be an analyst or even an assistant isn't in itself a bad thing. When you hire an unproven person though the chances of failure are high so you don't construct an entire offensive staff that way. It just can't be justified. They've had their heads lopped one by one.

That's one way to lose one of the best coaches we have by demoting him. Don't get me wrong Eason earning that is WELL DESERVED but Reed has been killing it too and deserves to be awarded for his hard work as well or he will be heading on outta town. I hope both a associate HCs and we keep both those guys because they are both awesome at their jobs! Go Tigers!!

Glad to hear that Dabo considers himself a Clemson Man. I'm sure Alabama did alot for him, but Clemson has provided an environment for him to flourish. Some fans might not be happy with him, but I am glad to have him as our coach. Let's give him a chance. I think he has earned it.

Eason is bringing in the dudes and coaching them up, congrats.
Austin, however, was a stupid hire imho.

Congratulations to Coach Eason. Do all that is needed to keep Coach Reed. Both are probably the best position coaches, on the defensive side, in college football. As far as Nolan Turner hire, it's a defensive analyst, which is an entry level coaching position, but hopefully we don't try to turn this to a position coaching hire next in the year or two. Time to end the Friends and Family Plan and get back to " Best is the Standard ". We've seen over the past few years, although well intentioned, it's a failed experiment.

Well deserved for Nick
Regarding the “new” analyst true over achiever and leader 2 star recruit in high school 6 years college football experience, 1 red shirt, 1 Covid Started 25 games Achieved all American recognition Selected team captain 2 years by teammates Played 2 years in the NFL, 1 year practice squad 2 years NFL = intense football study, learning, experience Joins as an analyst to bring his knowledge, experience and leadership
How many analysts bring that resume to a team! Great hire, regardless of past relationships!
Great to have Nolan join the staff!
Celebrate that resume!

He had 2 tackles in 2 two years with Tampa Bay. Any learning that was done was not on the field. And his coaching experience was a grand total of ..... wait for it...zero. Out offensive analyst coached HS, was an OC at CU and South Florida. Head coach at Arkansas and SMU. He brings experience from multiple backgrounds. Players fresh off the field typically start as graduate assistants or at the high school or small college level. Guess he's he exception that can go from 2 years on the bench in the NFL to making a major contribution as and analyst. Shocked the Bucs did not hire him in a similar role.
