UGA has no offensive players that I think we really need to game plan for

5

Aug 27, 2024, 10:59 AM

There is no Brock Bowers and I don't see a true alpha at WR. To be fair though, I don't think we have anyone you need to game plan for either. Aside from studying the tendencies of Beck I don't think Wes needs to attempt to really take anything away or truly guard against anything. I think the only special game plan he'll have will be to protect which ever Corner is opposite Terrell. I doubt Lewis plays and Lukas (who has not done well when he has played) has been injured for weeks. Even if they were healthy, I think there's a pretty big drop off between those guys and Terrell. I say let the Ashton Hampton era begin, but don't leave him out there by himself on a island too often.

Well, that sure would be nice.***

Really?

10

Aug 27, 2024, 11:24 AM

That roster is full of guys that will kill you in space.

Even their 3rd string RB is a stud.

Put any one or their WR’s on another team and you would be scheming against them.

The only reason we can’t scheme is because they are stacked across the board.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In the past their offense has been ordinary when Bowers didn't play

3

Aug 27, 2024, 11:45 AM

Him no longer being there is very significant. UGA feels their best WR is Young who transferred from Miami. He had a decent game against us last year (60 something yds), but he's not scary. That tells me their other guys aren't that great. UGA hasn't has a "great" running back for awhile. The Zeus White years were mid at best and last year's group was nothing special (hence them going out and paying to get ETN). Forget the high school star rankings, these guys just haven't done much on the college level.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree Bowers not being there is a big deal

1

Aug 27, 2024, 12:00 PM

They went 13-1 last year and only lost to Alabama though

They are loaded

This is simply not true. Dominic Lovett had more receptions and yards for UGA last year as the 3rd best pass catcher on the team than Young did at Miami. Young is not even a WR1 for UGA at the moment, he is behind both Dillon Bell and Dominic Lovett.

Cmon now. Georgia is so deep they can afford to share the ball to their playmakers. That's why you don't see one WR with 1k yards in a season at UGA. It's not like at bama, where they make up excuses when their #1 or #2 WRs go down late in the year...the backups better be ready to play.

You mention Zeus White days...who else was on the team the last two years? James Cook, Kenny McIntosh, Kendall Milton, and Daijun Edwards...all on NFL rosters. Any one of those five guys would be the work horse for most college teams.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

None of those RBs are great, scary, or worthy of a special game plan

2

Aug 27, 2024, 12:41 PM

That's no Walker, Hearst, Moreno, Hampton, Edwards, Gurley or Chubb.

The guy who sat out last year is a freaking beast.

6

Who told you that Young is UGA's best wr lol? Lovett and Bell are regarded as day 2 picks. Arian Smith runs a 10.1 40. Young MIGHT be the 4 best WR on the depth chart but it's a toss up between him and Anthony Evans, who is a 10.2 guy as well.

Zamir White, starting running back for the LV Raiders was mid. So imagine James Cook, starting running back for the Bills was too...

TNet is a wild place.

Re: In the past their offense has been ordinary when Bowers didn't play

Aug 27, 2024, 1:07 PM

SCar has 5 star in N. Harbor who is much bigger and just as fast. You think Clemson is scared of him? Speed does not necessarily make you a great football player.

I don't care if White and Cook are RBs in the NFL. Terrell Davis was "mid" while at Georgia, but he was a great NFL RB. We're talking about college. Hook up an unbias UGA fan to a lie detector test and ask them if White and Cook were any better than "ok" in their career at UGA and see what they say.

Lmaooo here's the the The SC kid isn't a wr. He really isn't a football player. He's a elite elite elite jumbo athlete. SC also don't have a projected #1 pick at QB. Nor do the have NFL lineman in the 2 deep.

Also, Branson Robinson and Nate Frazier are a more talented group of RBs then we had last year and those were NFL guys...

I'm telling you now.. UGA won't replace Brock Bowers... but they won't have too.

He clocked a 10.1 in 2021. He hasn't had two knee injuries either. He's had just one, and it was a meniscus, not a ligament - much less severe with basically 100% recovery. He has been limited by a lot of nagging type of other injuries: wrist, toe, fibula, shin, etc. But he had a full season last year and has been healthy all off-season and camp for the first time in his career.

This time of the year everyone is guessing.

Aug 29, 2024, 4:17 AM

Some will guess correctly but most will miss the boat. Very few times has preseason polls been anywhere close to accurate and every season except one in the last decade an SEC team has been ranked #1.

The rhetoric on eSPIN turned me away just about that long ago. I read eSPIN's rhetoric here but that's it. It's a waste of time, imo, to listen to people who talk for a living. I don't, and I feel my guess is as good as any of theirs. At least my bias is toward Clemson and I don't make a living pumping my only team.

LEts not get carried away with the "put any of their WRs on any roster" point...They certainly have depth at the WR position but their true threat is in the running game and the TE....

Cook was okay, but not great. You really have to go back to the Gurley/ Chubb years. That's 2017. That's like saying Clemson always has a good QB.

Sony Michel and Chubb

Aug 27, 2024, 12:22 PM

We know their roster is littered with 4 and 5 star guys, but have you noticed that no one has yet to really mentioned any one guy that we really need to take away? Name the skill player on offense who has shown in a college uniform that we need to always account for like a Bowers, a Gurley, a Chubb, or even a McConkey. Who has shown that they can beat you pretty much by themselves if you don't pay special attention to them? They very well may have a team full of "B" guys on Offense and that's what makes them a good team, but who's the elite guy? Possibly, it's ETN, but there's no sure thing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I may not know much about Georgia, but I certainly know they have

Aug 27, 2024, 12:20 PM

some guys we had better understand and prepare to defend.

Beck is a really really good QB, and without consistent pressure he can find the open guy. Our front 7 and bringing DB's off the edge will need to be timely and rush him into bad throws. On top of that, we have to stop the run game from becoming a real problem. Oline is great and running backs are as good as they come down the depth chart, so stopping that will prove a mighty task.

No Brock Bowers certainly is a good thing for Clemson, but I bet they have some weapons that our team had better be prepared for or it could be a long afternoon.

Go Tigers!!
