Re: Ts and Ps requested my brethren.

At the Anderson ICU sitting with my 98 year old grandfather. Brought in last night for a suspected bowel obstruction and a heart rate of 140. They’ve figured the obstruction out but heart rate still high and they’re worried about sepsis.

I don’t know if you pray for someone to pass, but it’s his time and if he gets out of here, he’s living a life he never would have wanted. Up until a month ago he looked and acted like a healthy 80 year old. Then he fell and fractured a vertebrae. 4 weeks later and he looks 120 and has been miserable at the skilled care nursing home he had to go to.

The man is my hero and one of the most influential people in my life, and I honestly feel like were he back to his normal self, he would kick my a## for just sitting here and not putting a pillow over his face. I know you’re supposed to ideally pray for God’s will vs a certain outcome, but I’m just praying that God lets him take a couple last peaceful breaths while he’s here and lets him go be with my grandmother.

My hope is that God is merciful and shows His astounding loving kindness to me in such a way that I will not live beyond my ability to care for myself when I lose all productivity.

We are a selfish species. The very last thing I would pray for another I love to dieh. God has shown me twice how wrong I am yet I continue. My mother died when my father died some 52 years ago. Her mind was so altered she lost touch with the woman inside who had raised me, been a faithful keeper of our home and offered the first testimony of Jesus to me. When her body died some few years back I rejoiced that her spirit live on with Christ.

I know everyone will remember the loss of my youngest son. Though he was late to blossom he enrolled in Clemson and graduated with high honors then attended law school until funding ran out. He was a faithful employee until prescription drugs took him. It was perhaps the greatest heart ache I'll ever know for he was indeed one of great potential.

I had the unfortunate misery of God speaking to me and promising to deliver him. I knew he was going to die the last time I saw him. As he walked toward the door my heart fell to its knees and I pleaded with God to deliver him. The next Word I heard was the ring on the phone. While my countenance the burden was lifted and I praised God. All I ever asked was God's will but of course, attending with human nature, I gave God directions on how to deliver him.

God is the perfect judge in deciding which is best for us, what we want or what we need. I have truly learned to condense my prayers to 'thy will be done.' I know this is what is best for me and therein do I find joy, comfort and peace.

My very best to you, my dear brother and may God's will be done with your precious grandfather and your entire family. May God's joy, comfort and peace be with each of you.
