Trump Impeachment: Looking for explanation

I am looking for as unbiased explanation of this... whether you agree or not, what exactly is he being impeached for? I have tried to keep up with it across various outlets.. I keep hearing about Ukraine, Russia, though what exactly happened with them I do not know... but in the simplest form, what did the democrats say he did wrong?

Your verbally distributed punishment will be severe . You'll also get a lot of wrong answers to a question that has only one .
Good luck .
I'll be listening from the control room .

Here's the short answer
1. Abuse of power - using US foreign aid and a meeting at the White House as leverage for personal gain - the investigation of a political rival
2. Obstruction of Congress - refusal to recognize the House's Constitutional role in Executive oversight and refusal to obey its subpoenas for testimony and evidence

Where is the evidence, it’s easy to say you committed a crime and force you to prove you are innocent. It’s just not America.

I actually watched the hearing yesterday. Time and time again, the Democrats said. "We took on oath to uphold the Constitution." Well let's hold them to that, when they try to abolish the 2nd Amendment. And to answer your question. Their reasons are: 1. Obstruction of justice. 2. Abuse of power.

Thanks for putting this on the correct board, and not on the Football page. I'll try to answer....
Democrats allege Trump pressured the president of Ukraine to announce an investigation into Joe Biden and/or Hunter Biden for his involvement with a Ukrainian energy company. By all accounts, his son was qualified for this position only because he was Joe Biden's son - an issue that is shady as all get out, but that happens all the time with politicians of all stripes and is not illegal. Trump supposedly withheld foreign aid to Ukraine unless/until they agreed to announce such an investigation.
Republicans argue Trump did not specifically say "Do this, or you don't get the aid." I.e. no quid pro quo. They also argue the aid was released anyway, without the sought after announcement. Democrats counter the aid was released after this little conspiracy was brought to light by the whistleblower.
Asking a foreign power to investigate your political rival or to at least announce they're doing so, and withholding foreign aid until they do so, is not kosher. It's likely a violation of laws regarding foreign interference in elections (I'm not looking the particular US Code sections up for anyone). Republicans also say "Joe Biden did the same thing" as vice president....the difference is he put pressure on the Ukranians to fire a corrupt prosecutor as an official state act, and not for his or Obamas benefit... That is a big difference as countries are free to tell foreign countries "Clean up your act, do better with human rights, don't support terrorists, etc. or else you won't get any of our money."
In reality, this impeachment will make little difference. Most of those that support Trump will continue to do so - and would do so no matter what he did. Most of those that hate Trump will continue to do so and refuse to give him credit for anything he does, even the good stuff. The house has impeached him, the Senate will not vote to remove him from office. THis will be an event to be discussed by historians, just like Bill Clinton's impeachment.
I personally think they got it right with both Clinton and Trump. Clinton lied, under oath, and deserved impeachment but not likely removal from office. Trump sought a campaign favor from a foreign power for his own benefit, using foreign aid from the US Treasury coffers to do so. Impeachment was probably justified, but removal is not. Regardless, voters will make the call in 2020.

If we are being objective there are two realities.
1. Trump broke the law and should be held accountable.
2. The Democrats are only doing this because they don’t like Trump and are trying to overturn an election result they didn’t agree with.
