That is showing you Scoring Defense, not Total Defense. I don't know why you and others don't get that.

I don’t know where you got 8th, we were not eighth in total defense last year, we were just above average

He did it based on yards per game not points to get 8th.

Yards per game is how the Total Defense statistic is compiled.

tackling, taking bad angles, and alot of being out of place on critical 3rd and longs, combined with a lack of general "clemson tough" attitude are the main problems i see.
Lukus is a bit of a liability in my opinion at db, we have the talent we just didnt finish plays at all for the most part on defense.

Lukas? Sark literally would have been an idiot to not have an assistant to remind him every 3rd play to go at #20. Absolute PI machine who loses outside leverage on the run.

This.
He's by far our worst cover corner...There is a reason why opponents attack him and it's not because he's covering their #1...He's awful.

No Shep Sherlock. If we have an NFL draft pick on defense, I would really be surprised.

Carter will be drafted this year. Woods Parker next year. Terrel and Sammy the following year.

Well we may and he didn’t even get on the field in 4th quarter of our SC game. Leading tackler today.

We are talented just thin in spots. Defense at of position alot. Dont know if our scheme allows alot of freedom or they are doing it on their own. It started with Wes but not sure if he is the cause or transfer portal & nil have gave players more power. Our defense just looks completely unprepared.

They are out of position because the opposing offensive line is pushing them out of position.

Thats not even remotely what is happening. We are running a SUPER SOFT DL set with LBers going into coverage way too much.
Texas was well aware of the way Wes plays defense and absolutely shoved his crap in.
We made zero adjustments and looked completely lost

You dont have to be great to keep a team from running for 300 yards

Average could put us in position to win the game last night
I understand Texas is a great team, but offense and especially rushing offense is not their strength
An average defense holding Texas to 150-175 yards rushing would have put Clemson in position to win the game.
We have talent weakness at one position (DE), but an experienced coordinator should be able to design a scheme to compensate for one positional weakness.

its not just one weakness

It’s multiple. DE is not only missing talent, outside of Parker, but it is missing depth too.
LB is missing depth and has very poor fundamentals. Gap fits are horrible.
Our secondary is actually the only well-coached group on the team.

How many teams have dudes like Carter and Brown
We can debate whether their run fits are good and if they are being coached well.
But these guys have as much pure talent as any 2 starting linebackers in college football.
I’ll die on this hill too.
Limited depth, fine - we are thin
But you can’t tell me we don’t have elite talent at LB. Just a failure to coach them up

You are simply wrong. We have a couple of guys who are elite, but we have a lot of weaknesses in other places.
It's kind of like this. On offense, you might have an elite running back, but if your offensive line can't block for him, you can't take advantage of his elite talents.
Same thing for the defense.

Ok, lets got position by position player by player

Whose weak and below average?
I’ll start -
DE - Hoffler, Lawson, and Denhoff wouldn’t touch the field for the top 10 defensive teams in the ACC
LB - Woodaz is below average
Woods, Brown, Terrell, Hampton, Carter and Parker all have elite physical talent
We are above average at every other position
Tell me where I’m wrong

He’s full of #####. We a have more than enough blue chips to produce a better D than what we’ve seen. He’s just another Porkchop fanboy like TigerCuck04. Hopefully they’ll begone once Dabo gives fatty the pink slip.

You do realize that not every roster even has that level of talent every year.
You have to coach them up at some point as well.
Acting like this defense was void of talent is trash take

It's not a trash take. There is some talent there, but not enough.
