our offense....
He just had weapons to bail him out with TL and crew here. We saw the drop off last year when he didn't have that.
Possible he could have been the issue for DJ's lack of progression?

OSU at in the 2nd quarter in 2019 and against ND the second time we played them with TL16 running the ball in 2020 were great.

No idea why someone would think that a guy who can't have a competent offense with anything less than generational talents at QB and RB would think he could win at frigging UVA.

Compared to previous seasons. I would say a 21 point whipping and only scoring 3 points is pretty much being buzzsawed.

Elliott may end up as a huge failure at UVA as far as I know, but I'm always amazed how so many on here make up their minds about coaches/players based on 1 game or in several cases less than that. UVA brought back a lot on offense at the skill position, but they lost all 5 starters on the OL from last year.

Elliott and Streeter are good guys. I’m obviously pulling for both of them. But I just don’t see either of them being brilliant offensive minds, especially when it comes to winning when they don’t have overpowering talent to work with.

Manage the game. Stupid philosophies that don’t make sense (shotgun run plays on the goal line- 2 point stance.. DUMB)
No idea how to exploit a weakness on the other teams defense repeatedly. Terrible at keeping drives going. So much stupid stuff that players Had to overcome to win a natty. We played out of our minds that 44-16 game and everyone thought TE was great.

TE didn't run ETN against LSU in 2nd half. 2 touches I think it was. He kind of lost my confidence at that point. Travis was averaging over 5 a carry I believe

Lost confidence in TE after that?
He was up 17-7 vs LSU in the second.
The LSU posted 21 points on Brent Venables in 9 minutes.
Then TE got us back within 3 in the third. TE had 3 touches for 13 yards on that drive. Even on each of the next few possessions, TE had rushes for loses and they stop the short pass
The D could not stop LSU. The O was just trying to hang in there and despite a horrific PI call, it was a D issue. LSU had 42 points by the first few minutes of the 4th. Handing it to ETN was not the solution at that time.

D did get their butts kicked but Tony's play calling was terrible. Definitely should have score more points vs LSU. Everybody knew Travis should have got alot more touches

ETN touched or was targeted for 7 of 19 snaps to start the 3rd. More than 1/3. TL16 had a few carries. And Ross/Ngata/Tee were the rest. ETN was targeted more than any other player outside of TL16.
The issue was TL/Ross/WR crew not in sync and forcing it. LSU did well and got into TL's head and got their timing off. By the time TE abandoned the run, LSU had 42pts. The options available at that point is to make the reception or not. It wasn't our night.

I am of the opion that TE was on the conservative side with his play calling.However, I don't think that's why we lost to LSU. I think we just flat out ran out of gas just before the half,from the OCRYO State game. LSU was a lot fresher in that game. Not saying we would have won, but if LSU would have played OCRYO State and we would have played Chokelahoma. Things might have a little different.

Folks tend to forget that TE is a Clemson man.
He has some hard work to make UVA football relevant. He can do it. It isn't as hopeless as taking the coot program and winning 4 games.

Rightly or wrongly I've always felt we've just been riding the Chad Morris playbook without much updating. We've had the talent in past years to stick with it and have success but eventually, when DCs keep seeing the same thing over and over, they figure out how to defend against it.
I never really saw Tony put his stamp on it and it still feels like the same playbook. At some point, we are going to have to start doing some things that confuse defenses because right now we seem fairly predictable.
