Tonight will cement the trajectory of this program

Win and we’re still a CFP type team, albeit not at 2018 levels. Lose and the free fall will continue. Winning tonight will have as big an impact as DW4 beating the coots on one knee

Clean and pure recruiting is definitely at stake.

Yep! We could at least tell recruits they have a shot to play in the CFP

No it’s not as recruiting is reflects NIL

Sorry but this just isn't true at all imo. Tonight is simply about tonight and perhaps a chance for our last hurrah. With modern college football like it is Clemsons run is just over. We cannot remotely compete for top prospects anymore. Just look at this years recruiting class.

I think people will be much happier in the long run if they just accept this. Clemson is now struggling to compete for ACC titles moving forward. It is what it is. I'm still a fan and I will pull for them until football is no longer played but I don't think there is much chance of super success here anymore. Not unless there are HUGE changes made to NIL and paying players. As long as there is no cap we're going to get smoked.

Our current recruiting trajectory says more about Dabo than it does Clemson

Just look at SMU, someone posted they raised 151M as they joined the ACC, and their bought team is pretty strong…. Just saw that MARYLAND just got the top 2026 defender recruit… the only way a kid goes to Maryland at that ranking is the promise and guarantee of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Until we start rolling out the $$$$$$$$$$ it will be hard…

Hopefully with the new rev sharing and rules, it levels things more

We could be competing in the portal if Dabo was willing to treat it the way other coaches do… Look at what Arizona State and their young coaching staff just to turn their team around in one season… Dabo is just stubborn and wants to do things his way and it’s hog tying our program

That is the sober truth. Can’t argue with you there!

Changes like you say...need to happen...especially in the strength and conditioning of our players. Our guys in certain positions don't look like they need to look when playing those positions. They need to definitely lighten Batson's load and come up with more workout regiments that can guarantee better results...and performance. Serious position coaches and recruiters as well.

Cade will also make or break his legacy as a Clemson Tiger tonight. I really hope he can get it together and do something special

Man I wish he could get it together too. Last week probably cemented his legacy. Struggling to think of his best win as a starter. Notre dame? Kentucky bowl? Just no consequential wins.

I don't agree that last week cemented his legacy. I think at the moment, Cade will go down as one of the biggest disappointments we've had at QB (though nowhere near DJ's level or probably Willy Korn), just because of the high expectations we had for a 5 Star who won the Elite 11. And unlike the past couple years, he's really had little excuse for the offensive miscues, since he has a pretty good running back, the best receiver stable we've had since 2019, and an offensive line that has been leaps and bounds better.

That said, Cade isn't done yet. He has more to go and his legacy could definitely be fixed.

Look at Tajh Boyd. He was the QB of two of our most humiliating losses of all time: the Orange Bowl beatdown by West Virginia and the horrible 2013 game against FSU where we were #3 in the country, but got beat at home 51-14 and Tajh was horrible. He also never won against South Carolina, and most of those losses were blowouts. Nevertheless, we remember him fondly because he came through in many of our most important games for our program. He beat LSU and Ohio State, and those two wins propelled us into the limelight.

Cade has an opportunity to right his legacy. He'll have the stats. He'll have a good win-loss record. But he needs to win when it matters instead of falling apart. Right now, he has the ACC championship from 2 years ago, but since then, has been blown out in every top 15 matchup we've had. If he can beat SMU and have a playoff run, and then do well next year, he could still end up as many people's third favorite QB of all time.

The trajectory is already set.

Sports are a vaccum, as long as someone else is going up then you are going down. It's easy to see other competition who are on an upward trajectory. Tonight is probably the last or one of the last shots to make the CFP.
