Today, let's revisit the 14 Points of Fascism
3

By Lawrence Britt in 2003, and I'm including a pretty good video of a man explaining how good conservatives who don't support fascism can get swept up in the movement and later reject it, which I think a lot of board members can relate to as many here turned against Trump after seeing what he really is.
I've posted the 14 points several times over the years; always with mockery from usual suspects but never countered with a valid opposing argument. Those who mock it generally end up looking foolish and embrace these points themselves (and yeah, including you lurking clowns from 20 years ago). Let's see where we are now under the current administration:
1. Powerful and continuing nationalism 2. Disdain for Recognition of Human Rights 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats to Unify the People 4. Supremacy of the Military 5. Rampant Sexism 6. Controlled Mass Media 7. Obsession with National Security 8. Religion and Government Intertwined 9. Corporate Power is Protected 10. Labor Power is Suppressed 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment (while also usually committing their own crimes, like cover up of pedophilia rings) 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption 14. Fraudulent Elections
So, I'll ask our board Trumpkins, although y'all are starting to get more and more silent as you also realize this administration is a disaster, this question: Is there anything listed above that the current administration does not embrace or has done or is attempting to do?
EDIT: Sorry, forgot the link! Best I can do is Insta:

That the last person you think of before you drift off to sleep at night is Trump. Then, you wake up the next day and he's the first thing that crosses your mind. Kinda like Ground Hog day. ( A really bad movie)

These are all things that to some degree, Trump/MAGA is attempting....

They are a basic fascist movement. However, within the US, there has been pushback moreso than we saw in Russia & Hungary 15-20 years ago.
I think the Kimmel thing is an example, where ABC decided to reinstate his show. I think the protests that occur every week are an example. I think some colleges & some law firms have pushed back.
One thing that can't be stressed enough: Don't do anticipatory obedience. Don't bend the knee assuming that Trump will full unchecked power. Companies and entities that fight back and don't just meekly accept the bullying will do better in the end.
Also, the clock is ticking down for the 2026 elections. During 2025, almost every special election has either been a Democratic party victory, or an over-performance by the Democrats, as even when they lose they far exceed their vote share in 2024. The Dems are more energized, and this will carry over into the 2026 elections. It's very likely - although still too far out to be definitive - that the Dems will take the House. And they might even squeak out some sort of victory in the Senate if the trendline continues.
We can't just assume that the courts will save us from Trump's abuses of power. They won't. The people themselves have to keep exercising our rights to speech and assembly. We can rise up and elect a House/Senate that will take seriously their role as a check against Trump's power.

History will definitely remember the brave. There have been a lot of cowards, unfortunately, in the face of this administration.
Where we've seen great pushback is in a very, very large American populous that refuses to accept these old tactics and enough mass media/social media to ridicule the fascists. Sure, that stuff helped create the problem, but it's effective in fighting it. Jimmy Kimmel wouldn't have brought in 13 million viewers on a return in Hungary or Russia back then; hell, there wouldn't have been enough public pressure to do it.
It will definitely take a Dem Congress to finally put the brakes on this administration; I just hope they don't #### it up like they tend to do.

If Dems keep winning special elections this year

there will be no 2026 federal election. People keep talking like a 2026 election is a given but so was constitutional restraints on a President's power and that keeps getting tossed to the wayside each and every day.

What that'll look like, who knows. Some national crisis or moving troops into blue cities or something to scare people way from polls.

There will be elections in 2026. Trump himself is not on the ballot....

So, I don't think he cares all that much about trying to stop them. I do expect shenanigans that make it more difficult for the Dems to actually seat a majority in either house in January, 2027.
The election I'm more worried about is in 2028. I think we need a strong turnout in 2026, though, to help slow down the consolidation of power by Trump/MAGA.

It was mostly directed at Bush officials like Cheney/Ashcroft and all the little lap dogs on this board who were eager to throw away Constitutional freedoms and start blowing up/torturing innocent people overseas after 9/11. I meant it then and I still do: there were early warning signs of this push to fascism under Bush, and MAGAs were a part of it (they'll lie now and claim they didn't support the Iraq War and all that intrusion into our liberty, but they were the same guys).
The Bush admin just didn't deliver to them exactly what they wanted in the long run like Trump does.
And yes, Bush looks like a very big saint compared to this administration. But the seeds of this idiot MAGA push to fascism were sown back then.
