To The Victor Goes The Spoils or So It Should

Spoils are great. It’s great to have trophies, rings, memorabilia, etc. However, the more important aspect of winning should be the narrative. Not only has Bama fans, SEC homers, and the Gamecocks conjured up a million excuses on why Bama lost, but so has the media. Am I the only one sick of the excuses on why Bama lost? Why can’t we discuss the reasons why Clemson won and in such a dominant fashion? Sure, the lack of respect makes for great motivation in the locker room. Yet, it’s getting really old really quick. I mean, I’m almost convinced that Clemson could win 10 titles in a row and the same crowd of people would still be drumming up excuses for why the other team lost instead of why Clemson won. You would think that after 7 seasons of consistently setting the mark the people would learn to accept and respect Clemson’s power. End of rant!
I said all of that in order to say this. We really need to defend our team to those who doubt them. If someone is making an excuse then we need to be the ones to correct them. Simply show them film of the game on YouTube. Show them the reasons why Clemson won. Clemson was more physical at the point of attack. The offensive line held the Bama defenders to zero sacks all game, and they made it look easy. The defense was in a league of their own and embarrassed Bama’s vaunted offense. The Clemson coaching staff prepared the Tigers better than Bama did. Nick Saban was out coached at every phase of the game. Anyway, I think it’s important that we as fans hold the world accountable according to the actual narrative.
That’s all I have this morning. Go Tigers!

I respect your opinion and your advice. However, I don't have the same reaction as you. When I hear that crap (tough schedule wore 'Bama out, mental fatigue, etc.), I just chuckle and roll my eyes. And I might say something like, "Yeah, right." Seems to be effective.
And I should point out not all 'Bama fans are making excuses. I have a friend who is a 'Bama grad and a super fan. She simply said the better team won. And went on to say the fourth quarter was very hard to watch.
Go Tigers!

I agree. While i understand where CP03 is coming from, it’s more the media and bandwagon bama fans than the true fans as you suggest. As long as our recruits (and they do) understand the better team won and why. As you said, smile and laugh at them.

It was near flawless game planning and execution on our part.

Their defense was NOT going to stop our offense. Their five stars were outmanned by our guys period.
Lost in all the conversations about the game is the fact that we had the #1 SCORING DEFENSE. We also had the #1 RED ZONE DEFENSE. The bottom line is that Bama had athletes and moved the ball well between the 20s but they didn’t score because WE DIDN’T LET THEM.
Add these things together along with Bama’s poor physical conditioning and you get a BLOWOUT in Clemson’s favor. Let them say whatever they want but that’s what happened. Hopefully our guys will use the disrespect card to win back to back championships next year.

Who cares what anyone else thinks? We won. The history books will forever say Clemson, 2018 CFB Champs. I don’t need more than that.

95% of the Bama hype I hear this part of the year comes...

to me via Tnet and other Tigers reporting. I watch ESPiN when Clemson is playing Basketball and that's about it. I keep up with recruiting a bit but all of that news comes from Tnet's front page.
All you have to do to avoid ESPiN is don't click the articles, don't watch the sports news on ESPN and stay away from Finebaum. Thanks for the post, it's delightful to know they are struggling to reconcile to a moral victory by rationalizing a 44-16 askwhuppin.
I enjoyed the first week of ESPiN following the game. All the things which made Nick the GOAT seemed to work against him, recruiting vs lack thereof, coaching changes within the staff which proved Nick superior coaching ability suddenly became his downfall, his 'greatest football mind in history,' suddenly became 'WTPH did he call a fake field goal when Clemson was in the safe positions?'
It delighted my soul that the reason of their existence came into question, 'why did we ever think he was the GOAT and how do we face the sports world after claiming all year that this Bama team could be the greatest of all time college football team?'
Clemson, Dabo, our players at every position and the gentle yet strong passion of our Clemson Family completely destroyed everything Alabama, everything ESPN and everything SEC in one fateful swoop. 4 quarters of the greatest QB of all time scoring only two touchdowns, the GOAT team scoring only 16 points, not one-ZERO-zilch, nada, ZERO running touchdowns contrary to what Saban spread on his bread for the entire length of his football career.
Meanwhile, Clemson Clemsons them. We should have been charged with abuse, assault and battery with felonious intent or murder. Bama was the victim but not only Bama, we stomped the heart and soul out of Finebaum, ESPiN and anyone who lusted for Trevor's 'Freshman Moment.'
Just wait until the idiots see Trevor's 'Sophomore Slump!'

I'm positively fine with your comment, "I mean, I’m almost convinced that Clemson could win 10 titles in a row and the same crowd of people would still be drumming up excuses for why the other team lost instead of why Clemson won."
It's a thesis I wholly endorse and am willing to see come to fruition.
