2/2 in road rage battles the last two days.

I feel a little like tigermanac® here, but I suffer for roadrageitis. It's a terrible affliction, though since meeting my wife, I've been able to mostly keep it in check. It was because one night in Charleston, while we were dating, I intentionally played chicken with a car coming at us head-on (not that i would have pulled in front of it, but I gave every impression that I was) who was in violation of some traffic infraction. She read me the riot act, and I learned my lesson that I was now driving for two.
Fast-forward to this week. Yesterday some idiot was sniffing my bumper on a residential road, then tried to whip around me when I was turning for a stop sign. I snapped, and did the little turn a little back into the road move, and laid on the horn. Terrible idea. But old habits die hard.
Then today, I saw this Chevy truck flying up the left lane that I was in, but was slowing down preparing to move into the turn lane to turn into daycare. Apparently this did not sit with him well for some reason, and he honked as I was slowing. As he proceeded to then pass me as I moved into the turn lane, I laid on the horn. Now, dear readers, even with my "woosah" attitude with road rage now, I still ascribe by the theory -- spare the horn, spoil the asshole; and, when I lay on the horn, I have no shame. I think my record is around 36 seconds of continuous horn blowing. Which, if you try this in your head, is a fuckton of decibel production. I waved to him as he passed by.
Later I was getting bummed as what largely fuels my road rage is acute sense of justice (remember my maxim about the horn). And, for a few moments, I was miffed that both of these a-holes did not get their comeuppance. But then I thought about it more, and I felt better I won each encounter.
For the first guy, the road I was turning on that he whipped around me is a bit of a short cut that avoids people turning left onto the road I turn right on. He must have been turning right as well, because I realized I ended up in front of him again. Except this time, he kept a wide, wide berth. I was only going six-over, so it wasn't like I was speeding away from him. He refused to close the gap.
For the guy today, it was more of a dick measuring contest. I held the horn for longer.
Realizing this, I felt better. Ultimately, though, I wish people would chill the eff out in the morning. Something must be in the air.
TLDR; VERSION - Jimmy is on the path to being murdered in a road rage incident if he doesn't cool his jets again.

one time, in a decidedly not-sober state, to head home to Goldenwoods. Maybe a mile, mile and a half as the car drives, all 25mph, he should be fine. He says "I'm gonna blow the horn the whole way home." *cackles*
He gets in his grandma Buick (we drove that sumbitch to South Padre once), and he lays on the horn as he's backing out of the space. Doesn't miss a beat putting the car in Drive, and disappears off into the distance. The horn lasted another 30 seconds after he was out of sight.
He made it just past the crotch house before a cop pulled him over. "What the hell are you doing?"
"Dog ran out in front of me, it was crazy!" I'm sure that seemed believable to the cop who heard him coming from a half mile away. Cop let him drive the last 1000' to Goldenwoods.

I too suffer from this affliction. Both of my children (now in their 20's) learned every combination of swear words, body parts and function imaginable on the simplest of journeys. Recently I have tried to be the better person. It is very difficult given the conventional wisdom of the day, "It's all about me!"
Recently, driving through Charlotte on one of the 85's, I noticed in my rear view (yes, I use actually use the rear view mirror) a "lane changer" coming up behind me. Who, as he passed me, cut right in front missing my front end by a mere coat of paint and cut across another lane to get to the off ramp. I was boiling. But no. I wasn't going to give into it. I said, "well, he's in a hurry. He must have a family emergency or something." Daughter of looked at me and said, "I think I like it better the old way."

I have to steel myself before leaving the house. No turn signals, people blowing through stop signs, driving down the middle of the road...

closure with an annoying long detour, and I still take it. Because it is basically two lanes all the way there, and the last leg is one of my favorite roads in Charlotte. Two lanes. Raised median with planted trees. Bike lanes. There are no lane-changers. Nobody can act a fool. It's just peaceful, and you go whatever speed you can go.
The other is a four-lane sprint from hell. My blood pressure can't handle it.

He calls it his cone truck, and he likes "kicking cars." Well, more specifically, he likes "kicking" them off bridges, where they fall to the ground an explode.
A+ parenting.

That I have cutoff or run in the ditch...I apologize, sort of. Seriously people, pay attention! Quit looking at the phone, in the mirror, scratching yer nuts. Whatever it is you were doing, don't be doing that when on the road with me. If you see an old Chevy with railroad iron for bumpers just know that it's not going to end well if you driving stoopid.
Nah, that was the old me. The new me just let's the idiots go. I'm never in a hurry these days. But I do bump the horn when some chick is looking at her phone instead of going on green light. I will stiock it in a slot instead of waiting for some slow old fugger to decide to keep things moving. And, I have replaced the railroad iron with solid plate steel. Helps for control and keeping my speed up when ramming.

But nah girl, I can see your eyes in the mirror and they ain't at the road. You better believe you're only getting 1 sec. of grace time after that light turns green before I hit the horn.
I'll even honk at people driving if I can tell they're using their phone.
I'm a death penalty abolishment guy, except when it comes to phones and driving. Automatic guillotine.

I walked in from the garage on a Saturday and said, "Morning buddy, what are you doing?
He said, "I'm trying to beat up this hooker because I need some money." As matter of factly and casually as he could have said it. I quit playing GTA when he was in the room on that day. I didnt realize he was even paying attention.

We have very strict rules for him playing.

We play nice. He can't use guns. He has to avoid pedestrians. (EDIT: He also has to apologize to people when jacking their ride.) The only missions he can play are running the tow truck, delivering pizza, playing the taxi, or the stunt races. Cars are fair game because you don't usually see injuries to people. And, we stress the difference between game and reality (especially when he wants me, while driving, to jump hills).
And I don't play around him either.
He mainly just likes to drive around in the open map.
It's literally been teaching him how to read, too, because we make him sound out the menu options when looking for cars in different garages.

Worked in the mountains one summer. Learned quickly to look for the Florida tags. Seems folks from Florida can handle hills just fine. Curves too. Combine those and it just hangs them up!

but driving through Florida the last few weeks showed me that people there don't seem to like to be passed.
I'm towing a boat on the interstate, so I try and stay in the middle or right lane at all times. But it seemed consistent that I'd have my cruise on doing 65, and come up behind someone going slower than me. I'd go to pass them, and the next thing I know I'm doing almost 80 to get around them--and they are too. What happened to their sub-65 mph speed? why, all of a sudden do they accelerate to 75+ MPH? During the 1500 miles of driving this happened no less than 6 times; It's definitely a Flar-duh thing.
And it made me want to nuclear annihilate everyone near me on the road.

but he typically takes it as a personal affront if somebody has the gall to pass him. I'm probably in the 90th percentile of aggressive drivers, but this never made sense to me. Good for you going faster than me. At least you're not in my way.

John's driver here in Greenville. It all started innocently enough, I was simply sitting at a red light behind him. He apparently thought I was too close and started making hand signals at me and yelling in his rear view mirror. I finally figured out he was trying to tell me, so I got as close as I could without hitting him while giving him the finger. Complete alpha domination.
