Fantastic news. Sounds like Randall may be back sooner.

How is blocking and being aggressive…

Jul 19, 2022, 11:37 AM

at point of attack being addressed differently this year?

I understand route running and timing has to be crisp, but screen blocking and downfield blocking by the receivers has to be a priority area for improvement too. It is a mentality, an attitude.

Not every play is designed for every receiver to be the possible go to guy. Some are the primary choice, another is a secondary choice and then you have a safe outlet choice. Which means, once the ball is snapped if you are not primary or secondary, your most important job is either to sell it as if you are the target and/or block like a mad man. And once the ball is in the air, your job is to either catch it if it is coming your way or turn into a blocker.

I would like to hear how they are working on this aspect of the game.

There should be a clock in their heads that everyone is synchronized to, including the line, the QB, the RBs and the receivers. The first 3 seconds after snap are crucial to have everyone hitting on all cylinders. Then transition immediately to the next stage in the play. Like clockwork!

This needs to be a main focus. There’s a reason it is called a “play”. Just like when acting, you have to know your role and timing in the play and it needs to be orchestrated on time and synchronized.

I feel more positivity with this group than this time last year.

In what sense? We have more unknowns, more guys coming off injuries, and less proven starters than last year

New year of health and domination for WRU

Jul 19, 2022, 12:27 PM

We have to look to dominate our opponents from the get go through hard work and precision passing and catching to open up the run game.

Best Is The Standard

I like the term “force feed” as it pertains to the WR corp.

We desperately need some production from that group.

Probably need a QB who can throw it where it can be caught...not in the dirt or 5 feet high. Hope DJ comes around or it will be a tough year.

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

Excited to hear EJ is designated to start at WR

Jul 20, 2022, 1:26 AM

Hope he's healthy. Beaux and EJ are my favorites and hopefully those guys, Ngata, Dacari and others will step up, and we get Randall back to have a Justyn Ross-type finsish.
