Tigers add Matt Heath to staff
CLEMSON, S.C. - Matt Heath was added to the Clemson baseball staff as special assistant to the head coach, announced by Monte Lee. Heath most recently served as associate head coach and pitching coach at UT Martin from 2019-21, and he was also pitching coach under Lee at College of Charleston from 2 Read Update » |

I have a family member who played when Monty left and I am going to be very careful but
the team was not a fan of this guy at all.

I’m seeing about 15 signees coming in this year that are freshmen… IDK their credentials other than W. Taylor, but that just seems like a long year based on what we saw from last year. Maybe Monte needs to recruit outside the state for talent because we’re going the wrong direction as a program.

From a positive side , he brings ALOT of baseball experience from all levels of the game. Hopefully he can translate that experience to help the players get better. Lets wait and see.

This is probably what Lee has needed during his entire time as our Tiger HC, but you can't blame Matt Heath for not turning down the College of Charleston HC position when Lee left. I bet that Lee is glad that he has Heath back with him now bc, I'm sure that Lee knew that his Head Coaching seat was getting pretty hot at Clemson!!!

He was run out of Col of C for Holbrook former HC of USC. I know a few players from their time and he was not liked as a coach. From what I know he is Monte’s best friend. This is going to be just more of the same. Non Clemson people who don’t know the passion of this program.
Heard from people on the inside this was supposed to be a position to bring in a former Clemson player who was coach of the year up North in the A10 who had his program cut. Never even brought him in for an Interview.
Monte has to go. This program could find itself at the bottom of the ACC if not careful.

Agree 100%....i am a Clemson guy but know the CofC program very well.
Heath was not liked AT ALL at CofC and this is a terrible hire. I am very concerned now.

Heath was well-liked as an assistant coach at CofC but hated as the head coach.
Take that for what it's worth.

I remember that we really wanted Heath to come with Monte when we hired him. In fact a few said back then that Heath was the real reason behind Monte's success at CofC. We saw that wasn't the case but maybe as a combo these two compliment each other well. Needs to happen this year is the kicker for them.
