Who really cares, all these power moves bc a judge sticks his nose into college sports will change it from what we've known, and loved about college sports for a century, will eventually turn fans away from college sports, to pro sports where paid players are just better!!!

I care. It’s intrigue. I hope to enjoy college sports for many more decades.
Also I’m happy players can make money off of their name, image and likeness. After all, those things belong to them. So it’s very American to earn money off things which belong to you.

Again- I have no issue with the NIL, but this has to have some sort of regulation and I don’t know how you do it. It will at some point put Clemson at a disadvantage to the larger schools with the ability to funnel money from big money donors thru companies to pay for recruits. This will create an even less competitive landscape in CFB which equates to fans tuning out because their team cannot compete. The NFL understands this. The NIL will create the NFL model without a salary cap to help the competitive landscape. money will just basically be funneled through companies by setting up some kind of corporate giving to the university and the boosters and alumn will fund it. No need for the bagman anymore. It is completely legal now.
Clemson has always been able to compete as a historically top 20 program. If we are not able to do so and we as fans know it going in we are not watching. That is how I think this will play out unfortunately.
Everyone needs to step back and say what is best for the overall health of CFB at this point.

I suppose the free education means nothing. Its not like schools pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, per player, to put a team out there for us to enjoy. Not to mention, football floats just about EVERY other team each school has. I can understand these kids getting something, but wheres their responsibility for anything else? Most schools do not even break even with money coming in from merchandising. Is this going to push the $$$ for a TL or ETN jersey even higher? What about a jersey for Brannon Spector? Or Matt Bockhorst? Now you are not putting money out there evenly; what sort of rift is that going to cause? This is a huge can of worms that's been opened and we're just helping to create an even more "elitist" culture.

sticking together on future CFP expansion! Imagine if the PAC, ACC & B10 decide they want an 8 team playoff, but allow no more than 2 teams per conference. Greg Skanky would crap in his pants, because that greedy basterd thinks a 12 team playoff, as proposed, will get 6 or 7 SEC teams in! NO WAY, JOSE!!

Yeah but if you seed em according to final rankings…..why does it matter if the SEC has 7 teams in……if the committee voted like they have since the playoff started then I don’t see how that’s unfair. It would be childish to tweek the system to ensure that only two sec teams got in…..just because of fatigue. If the the 7 teams are legit…..play em all.

When have you ever seen more that 2 SEC teams that are legit for the top 4?
It has not happened. I will give them 2 on certain years.
The expansion though makes it “ok” to throw more SEC teams in. There is no basis for this as those teams live off the perceived strength of the SEC and are not punished for losses in the rankings like teams in other conferences. For example, a 2 loss Clemson team does not get in while a 2 loss UGA team would. SEC bias.

If we lose college sports, theres nothing left. I already refuse to pay for the exorbitant wages the pros in any pro league make. If this happens to college, well, maybe i can hope my daughters volleyball team wont strike.

Imagine 42 people, from any walk of life, and try to get a majority to agree on almost any subject. Of course there will be differing views within this alliance and it will absolutely start with the huge Big 10 schools talking about how the $$ will be split up.

It gets us a foot in the Fox camp maybe. Swoff was a little too cozy ESPN to suit me. And the Raycom dealings should have been looked into. Nepotism?

This is what I hope for. If The alliance strikes a deal with Fox that would be a huge blow to ESPN. The SEC has been on top for a while but that could and probably will change. The BIG, PAC, and ACC should just form a mega conference and be done with it. That would force the hand of the SEC.
Question. If you had two separate championships. Say Clemson VS USC and Bama vs Oklahoma. Who gets the best ratings?

???? i have to assume you meant the real USC, and not the dirtlickers. To even assume that USuC could field a championship team goes beyond sanity and reason. Ill be in the back shuddering and trying to quiet the voices.

It would be great to see them stop at a 6 team playoff with the 4 power conference champs getting bids. That would really decrease the SEC's team chances with all their teams.

If you open to 8 teams, you have to make power 5 conference champions an automatic berth. If you start putting in 3+ teams from any conference, and leave out a conf champ, whats the point in those conference games? You would basically cement the idea of bias towards certain teams/ conferences.

Most important thing the alliance can do and must do is limit playoff to 6 or 8 teams at the most. I prefer 6 with each conference champion getting an automatic.

The ACC can stay intact, with the possibility of adding Notre Dame as a football member, while still getting strength in numbers with the new alliance.
The three conferences would “outvote” the SEC on key decisions such as playoff expansion while also potentially getting to share revenue when it comes to inter-conference games, TV deals, etc.
The thought of playing some games against Big 10 and Pac-12 in the years to come is appealing.
This is sounding more and more like a win-win.
Eff the SEC!

I would love to see more games against Pac12 and BIG teams instead of FCS and strange matchup schools - SC State and UConn - I am talking to you.

I’m good playing one in state small program a year. Those games basically fund 80% of those programs and I don’t want that going away. Trading UConn for Oregon, or another high profile school? Absolutely. I’d be good with 6 ACC games and the rest BIG 10 or PAC other than USUC and the one FCS in state game.

What a shame this is.
The pure bocus shakus coming from the folks pumping that SEC sunshine is behind this rubbish. When you start looking at things like bowl records. Yes - admittedly good at the top of the conference, no doubt. But, that ability of the other schools to seemingly get away with being so sub-par; yet have an outstanding rep is disgusting. I'm pretty sure if you take any conferences Top 2 to 3 schools(less the ACC with FSU wetting the bed and Miami) you likely have an outstanding OOC record. When you start getting into the "gauntlet teams" the picture is much different. Those gauntlet teams aren't much tougher than ACC squads. In fact, UVA recently and App St. beat one of those gauntlet teams. Just terrible how the propaganda machine has propped up: Vandy, Kentucky, Tenn, Arkansas and others.

Right. Let’s check out how Clemson and FSU have faired against these SEC teams historically.

Under Dabo- quite well. We are at about a 67% win ratio. Back through the 80s, it was about 50%. The 70s and before, not good at all. Quite horrible, actually. All depends upon what you deem valid....

I like the idea of the spring game being against one of these in state schools. Charge $10 for the game, local businesses could, potentially, end up making even more $$$, we get a "real" game and we still support those schools. I realize the competition isnt the same, but it would be more of a real game feel.

I think yall are making way to much of this. One AD in an article I read said no one is tearing up future non con games contracts.(which would include games against the SEC or FCS opponents)

8 team playoff. The same weekend as the power 5 conference championship games you have 3 other games with the top 6 ranked teams not in the conference championship games ( ND, 3rd place SEC, best 2 group of five teams, etc). Winners of those 8 games advance to the playoff. Really becomes a 16 team playoff because the loser of the conference championship game is out (sorry UGA).

Gotta love the fact that ESPN is "advising" the alliance how to organize and operate. Kinda like the fox advising the farmer on construction of the henhouse.

I would love to see the alliance gain some leverage from a TV contract perspective and set some deals up with FOX, CBS, and NBC that would lead to conversion of the any ESPN contracts upon expiration. Begin to hit ESPN in the wallet and leave them only with the SEC and mid-majors, then see how that works out for them.
