Actually, GREAT NEWS! Not saying we are destitute, but this young man is very good, and I can see him having a whole lot of success at Clemson, both on the FB field and on the BB diamond. That is my hope, anyway.

Very pleased that Will Taylor wants to be a Clemson Tiger student-athlete enough to pass up the big bucks he was surely offered by a MLB organization.
GO TIGERS!!!

Oddly enough, he stands to get paid much more as a college athlete.***

SUPER NEWS!!! GO TIGERS!!! Great to see a young man with long term goals not being short sided by some quick cash. I hope he has a long and successful career at Clemson in both baseball and football, and an even longer pro career in sports AND beyond.

Sure hope this is true. MLB should be ashamed that they are the only professional sports league that holds a draft and still allows its teams to draft high school students, tempting them with large sums of money in exchange for their chance to give college a try. They could, at the least, take the position of pro basketball, and not draft student athletes until they have at least 1 year of college. Anyway, so glad to know that Will seems to be inclined to attend the greatest university in the U.S. and continue his education while he further develops his athletic skills. I really believe that it will pay off for him in the long run, as it certainly will for CU. Go Tigers.

2 Issues with this article…

Great news, but…
1. Projected draft slot detail is mentioned and not the actual.
2. Much needed QB depth is added with a commit that Dabo has slated to be a slot receiver?

I agree with the HS and 3rd year eligibility rule over basketball. The one and done year in college is a joke. No real progress towards a degree. With 3 years in college many of the Clemson players are very close to finishing. I suspect it’s the same for most schools. You actually have to become a student or risk being suspended from playing.
Not everyone is cut out for college, or haven’t matured enough to get the most out of college. Those guys can take a shot at baseball, then consider a trade or college later.

I believe that both Will and Bubba trusted God to show them the correct path forward. I wish them both much success as they start their new journeys. I will be pulling for Bubba on the diamond and Will on the gridiron.

One thing that he will not miss is the late night bus rides so common in minor league baseball.
